I am getting a ER-FF which is for the fan so the fridge and freezer both don't cool. I called LG and they told me to unplug the unit for three hours. I plugged back in after 4 hours and had same problem. Called back and they told me that I had to wait longer and that was the only thing it could be (98%). After 15 hours still not working and no help from LG.
Hello, I have exactly the same problem with my side by side fridge freezer, the FF and the ER, I thought someone would be able to give me diagnostic help over the phone and all would be well! I've taken out all the frozen stuff and put in a freezer in the garage but not sure what to do next? I'll switch it off overnight and see if it resets?
The ER-FF problem that you have is: ERROR -FAN FREEZER so it means that you have a problem with maybe the fan motor or if it's a bottom mount freezer maybe ice built up on the fan motor so it's blockin the fan motor.
Hope i helped u a little bit ! :)

Might need a freon top up. If the compressor is functioning there may be in sufficient freon . This can be topped up. A repairman/technician can diagnose this fairly quickly
You have a bad freezer fan and need to replace it. The fan is located behind the back wall INSIDE the freezer. The unit will warm up a little because the air wont circulate the way it is supposed to. You can try unplugging fridge for 30 seconds to reset the control board u can do it yourself although I don't recommend it because u need actual diagnosis but this seems it hope it helps try buying part from sears or amazon
pull the unit from the wall, remove the bottom back panel , see if the small fan is working ,if the fan is , there's probally alot of dust back there, unplug the fridg. and vacuum the area real good, use a flash light to make sure you get it all, if the fan is not working and the compressor is running the fan is the problem ,the fan keeps the compressor and coils cool so the freon can cool down so the unit works like it should,if the freon is hot ,the air the fridg.will be blowing will be hot. this should fix your problem, and YES its worth fixing.alittle p.m.saves alot of $$$$$$$$$
unplug unit to "reset." pull unit out from wall and blow the coils out on the back of refrigerator. if that does not work- call service man to come check freon level.
if it seems like the evaporator is getting cold then your sealed system should appear to be ok. you need the evap fan to transfer cold air into fresh food section. if not turning u need to replace fan motor. make sure your not getting to much frost build up on the evap.
Hello Francois,
It was the fan in the freezer so you were right! Unfortunately, I couldn't fix it without an engineer but at least you found the problem for me!
Thanks for that!
Jude.
