No dish network sound through denon 1609 receiver

I just bought a Denon AVR 1609 and hooked it up to my Dish Netwrok VIP622 HD DVR box using the HDMI cable and the RCA Audio cables (because the 1609 manual says it can't separate the audio from the video signal with the HDMI). The picture on my Sony Bravia is great and I can get sound from the tv's built in speaker. The problem is no sound through the home theater speakers. I have the identical setup for my DVD player (HDMI plus RCA connectors) and do get sound through the home theater speakers.

Any ideas? Thanks for any help.

Check the setting for the HDMI connection at the Denon you may have to assign the HDMI audio setting also on the front of the Denon while in the DVR mode press the input mode button on the front of the Denon to select auto and if that doesn;t give you sound you will have to connect a cable from the DVR optical.coaxial or analog audio output to the Denon and setup for that type of audio connection

Why wont my surround work with new Dish network dvr.

Hello,

When the DISH Network installed hooked up their DVR, did they connect it via HDMI? If so, then it could be a bad HDMI connection. I would bet they simply bypassed your receiver and went straight to the TV, which is why no audio comes out of your receiver. You can test this by turning on your DVR and TV. If you see picture with your receiver OFF, then they bypassed your receiver. You'll need to hook up and HDMI cable from the DVR into the receiver and then out of the receiver to the TV.

I have a Denon avr-3808ci. I have a Dish Network DVR and a Sony KDS-60A2020 tv. If I connect the HDMI cable on the DVR directly to the tv, I get picture and sound through the tv. If I connect the HDMI...

You are correct. I feel your pain. This will not work.

HDMI is a pure digital signal and the providers require the content coming over the Dish DVR to be COPY PROTECTED. So it will not work unless the HDMI cable goes directly from the DVR to the TV. This is to stop people from being able to make their own recordings of Dish shows, or making copies of your DVR recordings. If you really want to run things through your reciver, you're going to have to use the "component" or "composite" video feeds, not the HDMI. Sorry.

Dish HD-DVR connected to a Denon 3808ci via an HDMI cable. Problem is periodically, the screen goes black for a split second and then comes back. Rewind and play again the blackout doesn't repeat. When...

Your'e losing digital data from Dish or the DVR. Since even live TV is through the DVR it is always a potential problem when anything glitches. That it doesn't repeat on immediate rewind/playback says the data made it to the hard drive ok.

The Denon is only defaulting back to an analog audio feed upon loss of the digital (preferred) one.

If it affects the video AND audio simultaneously the cause is something common to them.

I'd look at HDMI cabling into the Denon from the DVR.

Don't blame the Denon just yet.

My $.02:

I'd skip the video right past the Denon to the TV/Monitor even if it means using component cables instead of HDMI, but keep digital audio coming in from the DVR. Added cabling and connections never improve anything. Plus, HDMI cables are expensive.

It would be interesting to see if the problem comes back and affects only the audio or the video.

If you use optical cable make sure it has smooth flowing curves and no small-radius bends that would lose light power.

I have a vip622 with hdmi hooked up. no video or audio

Hi there, my name is Mayra Diaz with DISH Network, I just ran into your post, just wanted to make sure that everything is working ok for you. Usually when this issue happens we would replace the HDMI cable first and if that would not work we would replace the DVR receiver. If you have any other questions or concerns feel free to post back.

I have a vip622 with hdmi hooked up. no video or audio

Get a replacement receiver and see if this does not resolve the issue. I expect it will though. In the interim try a different port on the tv if you have multiple HDMI inputs and another HDMI cable if you have one available just to ensure that our suspicions are correct.

Thanks for using Fix Ya and being a valued Dish Network customer.

I lose my audio often for non-hd channels with dish 622 dvr

The problem could lie in youir HDMI cable, this is a common issue. if you swap HDMI cables and still have the same problem then bypass your A/v rec and connect your 622 direct to your tv and see if the problem persists, it it does, then your DVR needs to be replaced, you can call dish for addition troubleshooting if it is in fact your DVR.

Best way to hook up all my componets

The best way to use the Denon and get your money's worth is to connect all devices to the Denon using HDMI connects if possible, if you use HDMI make sure you assign the audio if needed.
HDMI from Denon to TV. the Denon will upconvert all signals to HDMI to the TV

No sound when ps3 is hooked up to a denon avr 1609

The 1609 only has video on the HDMI. No audio comes through the HDMI cables. Hook up an optical cable between your ps3 and the receiver and you should be good to go.

Digital audio cuts out.

Hi,
I have same DD 5.1 tiny "bursts" problem with satellite HD channel. It is probably problem with Crystal DSP (German site): http://forum.digitalfernsehen.de/forum/showthread.php?t=89328&page=3
"Denon bietet Lösung für EX-Flag-Problem bei den Modellen AVR-1602 und AVR-1802 an

07.08.2002(cr)

Poping in speakers

Same issue with my AVR-589...2-15 minutes after sound is playing (via TV or DVD). I checked all wires and speakers. Even reconfigured to audio only (analog) coming in, same issue. Put my old Denon receiver in and the problem disappears...possible overheating issue with this new unit?
