Question about Maytag 24 in. MDB9750AW Dishwasher
When we use the dish washer the dishes come out worse than when we put them in. The dishes, especially on the top, have grit stuck on them. It's incredibly hard to get it off once the dry-cycle has completed and "bakes it on".
Any...I am looking for some help on how to stop this from happening.
My model is simillar Cheri's. Every couple years I have to remove the plastic spray bars. They are held on by a simple torque screw. Once removed you will see debris plugging many of the holes. I have found this on all 4 of my spray bars. This debris prevents the right amount of water in the wash and rinse cycles. The upper spray bars seem to be the worse. This explains the trouble most folks have with glasses in the upper rack. Also check the docking station. You will fiind it along the back wall of your unit. The plastic tubes on the backside of each rack will slide into a hole in the docking station. After a few years the rubber seal in the docking station will be worn away. Once this happens, it prevents the correct water pressure to the upper rack. The replacement part snaps into place and cost about $25.

I have found that the top spray arm can become coated with food residue in all of the parts that are supposed to be loose enough to let the arm rotate. I removed the arm by releasing the brackets that hold it in place and using the correct torque screw thingie removed the sprayer arm from the bracket assembly. As I disassembled it each fitted plastic piece was coated with a white gummy and gritty substance. I'm thinking it is probably mostly paper labels from jars that my better half is too lazy to soak off. I removed about a tablespoon of this stuff that was gunking up the parts and then ran the dishwasher with a cup of bleach. Haven't been brave enough to disassemble the bottom spray arm/pump assembly yet but this has helped a lot!
