SOURCE: sump pump

The big cylindrical thing at the end of the wire hanging is the switch. I believe it is a mercury switch. Try hitting this a little and see if it stops. Sometimes they get stuck. If this doesn't help, then replace that piece. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: I want to replace an impeller for a Little Giant submersible pump

This is a plastic impeller on a brass hub. If the impeller is loose it is probally cracked or overheated and melted, ether way you will have to break the impeller off of the hub then you will need to break hub loose from shaft. You can do this by putting pump in a vise and putting a pair of vice grips on hub and giveing them a sharp hit in a counter clockwise direction. you will need to replace the seal and impeller and should check to be sure than you can get these parts before you start.

How to disassemble Little giant pump model#psm006?

thats why i like the little giant pumps they are put together with phillips screws not glued like them other guys , i do suggest that if you dissasemble pump and water has gotten inside , replace it not just seal it up and go , wont last long as that means the pump shaft seal has leaked , ther e has been a few folks that add dietary mineral oil to the inside , for use in very deep ponds (over 3 feet) they believe that helps keep the water out

My new Little Giant 8-CBA Pump is hooked up underwater and plugged in. Not a sound. Electricity is working. And it's the same pump we have had for the last 7 years.

You say it's new? On some pumps they will secure the float switch when shipping. Be sure you followed directions and removed anything that may interfere with the switch.

Little giant pump stopped working

Hi Tom (and Lindsay?),

Ok lets get a little more info,
  1. Plugged in? (Have to ask)
  2. Does it run and not pump?
  3. Does not run?
  4. Tried moving the float switch?
  5. Pull the pump and see if the intakes are clogged
Please comment back with your findings
