Dryer Lint Trap Not Catchin Lint

Hi, I have a maytag dryer and I recently noticed that the lint trap hardly has anything on it when I clean it after drying a load of laundry. Before there would always be a thick layer of lint. I am worried that the lint is staying in the dryer and will cause a fire.

Thanks!

If you have the ability to move your dryer away from the wall and look at the hose located at the bottom of the unit.
1. Take the house off it might be clogged 2. check for ang gaping holes in the lint screen

Dryer will not start but has power. says check lint trap. I check the lint trap and it is clean, but will not start.

buy a long lint trap cleaner that you can run deep into the dryer. Take the lint trap out and clean all down inside dryer under the lint trap. Then clean your exhaust hose.

My dryer runs but no heat.maytag neptune gas dryer.

Hi there,

Well if your dryer tumbles, but there is no heat then you may please check out the following -
1. First of all you can check out for proper air flow - Check the vent for proper air flow by placing your hand over the exterior vent while the dryer is running. You should feel a strong flow of air. If not then check the lint trap. It is located either on top of the dryer or possibly just inside the door. Remove any lint that has built up in the lint trap. Cleaning the lint trap should be done regularly, even as often as after every load. Do not operate the dryer without a lint trap in place.
2. Secondly you can check out the Ignitor - gas dryer blows air through a burner assembly to heat the air. The burner assembly consists essentially of a gas valve, ignitor and a flame sensor. If any part of the burner assembly malfunctions, the result will be low or no heat and slow drying of the clothes. Post comments for further help or information.....
Good Luck!!

The cycles have stopped heating. We have replaced the thermol fuse twice now in two weeks. Noticed when I touch the button to start a cycle, the readout is saying to check filter. Where is that? I'm...

Go outside and look at your flapper valve. Here is another news flash the lint filter can be clean but the air ducts in the dryer can still have lint build up in them. Pull out the lint trap also then using a flaishlight look underneath and around the lint trap area for lint build up. If you don't see anything there remove the rear vent hose and look both into the dryer and into the vent hose. Most likely you find either a kinded vent hose or lint buildup somewhere other than the lint trap itself. If you do find the source just do not use anything sharp to attempt to remove the lint. A bent metal coat hanger or a very large zip / spot ite works great for this task. Hopefully this will resolve your problem. If not post back and we can go from there.

Lint trap

http://www.pcappliancerepair.com/model-display.php This will show you how your dryer is put together. The lint has gone directly to the fan, where it could affect fan performance. You would have to remove the front off the dryer, and the cover off the fan area. It's not a bad idea to clean this area once in a while.

My lint trap has very little lint.

Older clothes do not produce as much lint as new ones. Also, if your dryer isn't getting as hot as it used to, then you won't get as much lint either. Does it seem to take a bit longer to dry your clothes? Also, check your dryer vent, if the airflow is reduced, the amount of lint that is expelled through the filter will deminish as well. You may have a build up of lint in the vent ducting to the outside that is restricting airflow.
