HDMI ports CB/SAT and Aux do not work on HT-R670

Have not been able to use blue Ray player or other devises Only two ports appear to be working normally. the TV out and the VCR Port work fine but others I get no signal reading. I am currently using the VCR port to watch cable or Blue Ray by switching the HDMI cable. Any Ideas?

Went thru the menu ports were assigned correctly, no change in operation. I have heard about HDMI boards having problmes but thought that the problem would take out all ports and not be selective.

You're right, usually it's not just one or two jacks. I looked at the schematics and don't see anything specific to those jacks that would cause your problem. Unfortunately, replacing that board would probably cost you more than the receiver itself. Have you looked in the owner's manual to see if there is a factory reset that can be done? This sometimes fixes some wierd problems.

usually you can reset these units by holding down the vcr button and pressing the power button. CLEAR should show up on the display.

I have done the reset and it had no effect. I believe that the easiest and cheapest way out, is to purchase a new receiver. I am currently looking at one of three Onkyo 606, but worried about the heat problems, The Sony STR-DN 1030, which appears to be best for my setup or the Denon 1916, has more hook ups but does not have the WI-FI as the sony does.

Check your setup menu and make sure that the cbl/sat and aux functions are set to look at the hdmi jack and not another type of input like analog, optical, etc.

hook your dvd player up to the tv via hdmi, then take the optical audio output from you tv to the soundbar. Make sure to enable to audio output jack in the tv setup menu as some manufacturers disable this jack by default.

Sharp Aquos 46" HDMI problem

I have a similar problem. The Sharp TV aquos appears to be shutting down my blue ray player and dvd recorder when connected via HDMI. They work fine and never close down when I connect them via the rca cables either single video connection or a composite 3 cable rca lead. I have 3 HDMI inputs on the tv and the problem occurs on all 3. Any suggestions?

Best way to connect new system

After trying several ways, we decided the best picture was to run the blue ray (out) directly to the TV (in) with an HDMI and another HDMI from the sat. box(out) to TV(in), then optical audio from TV (out) to receiver (in). This way you don't have to change channels on the reciever when switching from TV to DVD. Remember that HDMI is one cable that supports audio and video. If you are using all Samsung products and want to use one remote, using the Anynet feature, I think it has to be connected with an HDMI. I'm going to try connecting an HDMI too from the reciever to the TV to see if this feature will work. It does with the Blue Ray.

Advice on the best way to connect

If your system has hdmi in puts put the blu ray player into it then from hdmi out on system to hdmi in on your tv.Now take a phono lead from tv out put to a input on your system, could be marked "aux,tv,sat".For tv sound set the system to prologic2,blu rays should decode themselves,if not check settings for audio out on player.
hope this helps.
