When i connect a scandisk (8GB) pen drive to my desk top (assembled) the indication appears on the screen as if the drive is detected but when i try to open it from myu computer it doesn`t show the device.???
What Operating SYstem are you using? XP or Vista? An what service pack? (Check this by pressing the Windows key + the Paue/Break key together)
Firstly, if you are plugging the pen drive in to the front USB, try the USB ports at the back. Many times this works.
Secondly, It's a known problem that XP with SP1 doesn't detect many pen drives correctly.
If that's the case, download service Pack 3 from microsoft's site:

as i had reported earlier regarding my scandisk pen drive getting detected but not opening.. as per your recommendations i downloaded Xp service pack 3 and then tried .. but in vain.. the status is still the same..
however when i opened it on a vista it worked..
i`ve tried the ports on the rear of the cpu as well and both in front.. the moment i connect the pen drive i get the indication on the right bottom and also it shows that the device is working properly but when i try to access the pen drive it doesn`t show ...??
