    me too

  • Anonymous Apr 14, 2009

I have just purchased a Bravia Z series TV, replacing a Sony Trinitron. I used to connect my iPod to my old TV using the standard iPod AV cable to show slideshows with music.

However, when trying to link the iPod to the Bravia in the same way (referred to as Component in the Bravia menu) it does not register. Searching online I read articles that I now need to purchase another component which Sony have just released. Why should this be necessary on a new expensive TV when it worked perfectly well on the old one? Seems like a ripoff to me, unless there is a way to connect without this extra device.

Connect your iPod to your TV with a DIY cable
The iPod A/V Cable is stylish and handy, but you may feel it's not worth the money; the Belkin cable gives you twice the value per foot but costs the same overall. For a less expensive alternative, find a standard A/V cable with three RCA plugs at one end (coded red, white, and yellow) and a 1/8-inch A/V plug with three bands at the other end.
To set up your iPod for playback, plug the 1/8-inch connector into your iPod's headphone port, and then plug the yellow, white, and red RCA connectors into the RCA jacks on your TV in this non-color-coded way:

Hi - the solution is really easy and I now feel very dumb, although it did take 15 mins on helpline to Sony to get there (and the guy there was suprised to learn that you could run slideshows and movies from an iPod onto TV)!

Basically its the same as with any other TV including my old Sony TV. Connect the iPod AV cable to the TV and select AV3! However, it does depend on what iPod version you have. My iPod Classic allows AV ie not just aural, connecting through the headphone socket, Later versions eg iPod Touch requires an AV connector which connects through the base not the headphone socket in order to the the Visual bit.

Hi, this seems to be a physical failure with your connections and not your TV input configuration (as you're able to listen to your audio). First, try to see if there's an obstruction on your iPod dock (maybe some dirt or dust) and on your AV cable. As the video travels through different pins than the USB or power, you may've not noticed the failure until now. Sony Bravia TVs are all built in the same factory, so they can easily change from NTSC and PAL, try going to your settings and change the TV out to NTSC. If everything else fails, take it to your Apple Store, they'll be more than happy to test it for you and if it's broken, replace it for a working one.

We have a Sony Bravia 40'' LCD that the screen went white and then black and won't come back on. The power button comes on but no picture. Just bought the TV in Nov 2009

the most likely the t-connector board became unplugged or failed completely (sits right behind the screen modual at the top&center) or.. the logic board has went kaput on ya...ontop of that, you are dealing with the notorious sony. try and get a replacement if under warranty. do not settle for thier refurbishing.

repairing these things i can tell you , it could be anything from a bad connection or ring cracks to completely failed parts. but only if i was in it would i know for sure. but the symptoms suggest t-connector or the logic board.

Connecting ipod touch to sony bravia tv through component - no picture, only sound. I vave got colours matched up right! Apple website seem to suggest this cable should work. Could it be something to do...

Your TV needs to support "progressive scan" input ... may not work with a standard definition TV, if that's what you have. If you have an HD TV, make sure that if it has a setting for progressive scan, it's turned on.

How do i connect 80gb ipod classic to sony bravia?

It's an A/V cable, which you can get from apple or buy aftermarket. Please see detailed link here. If you decide to find a generic plug, make sure the 1/8" miniplug has all three bands for AV.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

MY SONY BRAVIA 32" CRACKED LCD

Unfortunately in most cases the cost to repair the tv is not worth it. The replacement panel plus the labor in most cases cost's more than what the tv cost you to buy. You can call Sony if you are intrested in the cost of the panel. 1-800-222-7669
