Make sure none of the buttons are stuck in. One button being stuck may make all the others not work.

SOURCE: Yamaha receiver RX-V663

Make sure you have an analog RCA audio cable from the source to the receiver. Digital coaxial or optical will not work for zone 2 or zone 3. By adding an analog cable it will not affect your main zone, it will always go to digital first. Hope this helps

SOURCE: Hi, I have a Yamaha rx-v450 amp that won't

Hi! Transmitting doesn't mean it's working, What you should do to test it is use a good quality universal remote such as a Logitech Harmony and first program the preset code for your receiver into the Universal Remote. If that works, you know your OEM remote has gone bad, at least for those buttons. If it doesn't then you you should attempt to have your Universal Remote "learn" the IR signals from your receiver's remote If the controls still don't work, there is a problem with either your IR receiver on your receiver or the the circuitry that proceesses the signals into commands. Good Luck!

SOURCE: Yamaha RX-V1000 volume control erratic, remote

Hi.

The volume knob issue alone sounds like it's hardware-related and therefore not easily fixed. Also, since the remote appears to be working (the LED's are lighting up), but the unit is not controlled anymore, the IR sensor is probably faulty as well. I would seriously consider sending this AV receiver in for repair. If it's still within warranty, you shouldn't need to pay anything for the repair.

Manual for your receiver: http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/pdf/av/english/re/RX-V1000.pdf

It's not much but I hope this helps.

SOURCE: Yamaha RX-V663 zone 2 stopped

Hello
The power supply sectionand the relay control section should be checked. There is control transistors which activates the relay control. If this transistor has damaged, of it does not get any voltage, the relay will not click. In most cases, if the output transistors got shorted, the set will come by protection state. Here you reports that only relay is not working. Just open the set and check the voltages at the "collector" pin of the relay drive transistor. You have ot disassemble the whole circuit board as these transistors are not accessable without get the boads out. Actuallly this is a very skilled work and care should be taken in all respect. If you are not aware in elctronics, and haven't proper tools and a digital multimeter, soldering iron, you can do this work. Otherwise get it repaired by any experienced service technician. OK.

How do i set the impedance ?

Check the page 105 english manual at http://download.yamaha.com/api/asset/file/?language=en&site=europe.yamaha.com&asset_id=58929

You can change the speaker impedance in advanced menu. With receiver in standby, press the MAIN ZONE button on front panel while holding down the STRAIGHT button. You should now see ADVANCED SETUP on the display. Use "PROGRAM < >" buttons to navigate to "SP IMP." screen. Then use STRAIGHT button to change the impedance. Finish by turning the receiver off by pressing MAIN ZONE button.

Why don't you set it Zone 2 then you could listen to the radio outside and still watch tv inside. You can turn it on and off just like a and b speakers.

Yamaha RX-V663 Multi-zone question.

i just got the same receiver like few days ago im still leaning it too,it is a very nice receiver though. here is some settings to help you.
check this to make sure zone 2 is showing in the menu,
on remote
menu, basic setup, speaker set, extra should show zone 2 it might show zone b...presence...or none needs set on zone 2 hit the left a-e/cat button it is weird the right doesnt circle all around? i had to call crutchfield tech for that one(GREAT COMPANY!)so that is for the setting to make sure zone 2 is set up now some to adjust the volume.
menu, manual, options, zone 2 set. here you can set 2 features
max volume( the loudest it will play) inti vol(the volume that it will play at when it is turned on) the yamaha has alot of quirks to it but has a very nice sound. for second zone features and a easier receiver to set up i have onkyo and they are very easy to set up zone 2 olume and everything on the front panel. hope you dont have to try to program a universal remote to work it seems yamaha uses discrete codes that are impossible to find i tried one universal and can only get very basic features to work.
hope this helps you out,
jeff
