My keyboard beeps when you press ANY key. If you hold it down it beeps, then it beeps again and types the key, this takes over a second to type each key. This isnt because of a slow repeating rate either, and I've unplugged it multliple times or tried restarting the computer. I currently am having the problem on my gateway computer which uses Microsoft Windows XP SP2. Please help and thank you.
I found out what was wrong in my case. Someone had tampered with the accessibility options
So for anyone with keyboard problem check :
In Windows XP : control panel-> accessibility options -> keyboard : StickyKeys and Filterkeys checkboxes should be unchecked.
In Windows Vista : Ease of access -> Ease of access center -> keyboard : StickyKeys and Filterkeys checkboxes should be unchecked.

Hold your shift key down for 10 seconds and it will reset your keyboard. It might happen again and just repeat the process and it will reset again. This definately works.
HAVE YOU TRIED ANOTHER KEYBOARD? TRY YOUR ON SCREEN KEYBOARD UNDER "ALL PROGRAMS" "ACESSORIES" THEN "ACCESABILITY" CLICK ON "ON-SCREEN KEYBOARD. IF THE ON-SCREEN KEY BOARD WORKS YOUR KEYBOARD IS BAD.
I have the same problem as the one above, and can say at once that plugging in another keyboard will not work. My on-screen keyboard does indeed work, but it's not related to a bad keyboard. My keyboard works during BIOS and boot-up, so something tells me there's something wrong with windows. Try a Windows -> Run -> sfc /scannow See if it detects any errors there.
SOURCE: Keyboard beeps when any key is pressed
The reason these beeps are happening is because there might be a key that is slightly depressed enough to where its registering keystrokes. Move your fingers all over the keyboard and see if you the beeps stop after you do that. If it still is going on then that means your keyboard is bad and will need to be replaced.

was wooking unpluged when moving now it just beeps on any key
i have the same problem on screen keyboard works, but ps2 and usb keyboards wont work. the only way it will work is in bios and if you hold the key down for a few secs then it will type it
The keyboard doesn't work, the PC beeps when pressing a key. Only the on screen keyboard works. I have created several user accounts on this PC, and the problems only occur with ONE of the user accounts.
So this is definitely no hardware problem.
