The cost for the new part is relatively cheap, the labor will vary, but to fix it it involves dropping the tank down, unplugging and removing old putting in new, can be time consuming, prob have to replace tank straps, then you gotta get to the back of the gauge cluster and that can be tedious and time consuming too. easier and cheaper to estimate gas usage or just keeping the tank full-

88 e350 gas gauge doesn't work shows empty

Probably either wiring to the sender unit in the tank or the sender unit.
Check for a voltage to the sender and a good ground.

Gas gauge reading empty but gas is in tank

There is a sender unit failure. Likely it would need to be replaced.

My gas gauge is stuck on empty, how to fix

if your gas tank is empty of course the gauge is empty, but if the gas is full and the gauge still empty all you have to do is to check the float valve inside the gas tank maybe it is stuck.Or need to change if necessary.

1987 ford e350 gas tank filler pipe had a ping pong sized ball inside. was this attached to something else? gas is coming out of the filler when you run the engine. what is stuck in there? do you have a...

Does your fuel gauge work properly? If not, the "ball" could be the float from the gauge sender. If the gauge does work properly, then you may have foreign objects in your gas tank. If so, then you should remove the tank (preferably when it is empty) and clean it (and the filler tube) out thoroughly.

Fuel gauge issue

Hello. Before getting involved in real repairs, dump a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in your fuel tank. It may clean your sending units enough to get them working again. The chances of success are only about 50%, but the cost is very low. Redline, Chevron, and others make good fuel injection cleaner.

Gas gauge is not reading correctly. Shows a full

the problem is caused by a defective gas gauge sending unit, this part is located inside the gas tank, you must remove the gas tank to replace it.
