How to remove Electrolux Icon refrigerator door handles

Moved in to a place with a newly-renovated kitchen, with what looks like a new Electrolux Icon refrigerator. It is stainless steel, with french doors (freezer on bottom), water/ice dispenser on outside of door, NO "2nd icemaker" in bottom, and I believe "wave" touch controls (HTH -- I can't seem to locate a model or serial # !) The problem is that the handles were put on before the protective plastic was removed, so there are lots of remnants sticking out that are impossible to clean up without removing the handles. I figured I'd remove them, clean up all the bits of plastic sheeting, and replace the handles. I've found the set screws, but they don't appear to DO anything! I have a metric hex set (which is what the set screws look like), but is it possible that I need a regular set? 2.5 fits and 3.0 is too big, but maybe the 2.5 is actually a tad too small so ineffective? That's my only idea... thoughts, anyone??? TIA!

Look real close as the screws may not be hex but tec special screws that require a tec bit set ( available from a good tool shop)
you mention metric sizes for the hex but the screws may be imperial and not metric and that may be the difference

SOURCE: Ice dispenser door hinge bracket broken

I repaired this problem on my Whirlpool fridge with a metal bracket that I designed and installed myself (see photo). I can supply detailed, step-by-step instructions, complete with lots of photographs, to do this repair. I get these brackets water-jet cut in quantity so the quality will be good.
I will sell the instructions, bracket, and attachment screw for $70, or a more complete kit with the bonding compound, drill bit, and chisel (so all you need is a drill and screwdriver) for $100. I think this is fair for the development time, prototypes, and mass production costs involved, and is far cheaper than the $560 Whirlpool wants for a new door. You can do this repair with the freezer door in place, and it should take you only about 2 hours, not counting the 24 hrs to wait on the bonding compound to set up.
E-mail me (jeff at lentzclan.com) if you're interested, and please put "refrigerator" in the subject line. This repair was done on Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator model ED5JHGXRQ (white), but should also work on ED5JHGXRT (Biscuit), ED5JHGXRB (Black), and ED5JHGXRL (Stainless-VCM).ae8679c.jpg

Fischer Paykel model E522B .

To replace the door handle on your Fischer Paykel E522B refrigerator, you will need to remove the inside panel first. The instructions for removing the panel should be included with the new handle or can be found in the refrigerator's user manual. Here are the general steps for removing the panel:
  1. Locate and remove any screws or fasteners that are holding the panel in place. These may be located at the top, bottom, or sides of the panel.
  2. Carefully lift the panel away from the refrigerator, being mindful of any electrical connections that may be attached to the back of the panel.
  3. Once the panel is removed, you should be able to access the door handle. Remove any screws or fasteners that are holding the handle in place, and then carefully lift the handle off the door.
  4. Line up the new handle with the holes on the door and secure it in place with the screws or fasteners that you removed earlier.
  5. Reinstall the inside panel, securing it with the screws or fasteners that you removed earlier.
It is important to follow the instructions provided with your new handle or in the refrigerator's manual to ensure proper installation and avoid damaging the refrigerator.

Does not having a functional toilet extractor fan no window contravene any health and safty codes? Door opens onto kitchen, bedroom, lounge. Thank you.

On new construction OR (commerically) newly renovated there must be a window OR a fan.

A fan is NOT required if there is already a window in place.

Refrigerator won't fit thru door.

I ran into the same problem when I moved into my old house. the door way was to small, so I had to take both doors off the refrigerator to get it through the doorway. But I found out when I moved out of the house, that I was able to open both doors and wiggle it through the doorway. It was a hassle but it was alot easier that removing the doors. Good luck.

Amana fridge door on wrong side

Generally, doors can be swapped side to side.  Look for some kind of plate where the hinges would be on the other side of the box from where you've got the door mounted now.  It may be covered with a plastic piece.  If you find it, you're in business.  A small socket set is all it usually takes.  Get help holding the door in position as you do the work.  Doors are heavy.
