How long has it been since last running? Are all the safety switches activated? Handles pushed back all the way? Sitting on seat (i presume) ? Parking brake engaged? I would also check the oil. What does the oil look like?
that engine is junk... ask your question, I know all to well about those things. as for the manual, cant help there as what I see being Kohler Expert Certified is different than what you see
Hmmm... first off, check the oil and make sure it's at the proper level - low oil can cause overheating. Second, if you haven't cleaned the engine and it's full of yard dirt and dust then you need to blow it out with about 100psi of air. Blow down through the cooling fan on top of the engine and make sure all the fins around the cylinders are clean of debris. Sound like the engine is cooking..
