I configured modem for usb connection since lan card is not working . after browsing for 10-15 mins the light blinking on usb shuts off but power , dsl,internet light is working .If i try to disable and enable the adapter in adapter settings , its of no use .when i pull out and fix the usb in modem the system hangs .this is my problem kindly plz help?

Apparently either you or someone else enabled encryption on your wireless router. This is in general a good thing, it keeps neighbors and people around your unit from accessing your network.

First are you sure the wireless is accessing your router -- there may be several routers named default or linksys in radio range?

Second you may be able to find the passphrase / key / password in the configuration of the wireless in the other computer.

Third if you can access the router config

Generally by typing something along the lines of
http://192.168.0.1 into a browser like Internet Explorer
then you need a userid and password (that defaults may be in the manual for the device)
Then navigating to wireless security or some equivalent name you should be able to find the WEP passphrase, key, password.

hmmm...only thing that makes sense here is that your dSL is unhappy...did you check that phone line into the modem? that's what the internet light means when it's out, actually..if its not the line, then it's the modem..

* If you can connect after disconnecting power and reconnecting, it means there is formation of static charge on modem

* Check whether there is any cordless phone or any other satellite devices next to the modem. If so, move the modem 10 feet away.

* If your modem is placed on carpet, please place it on wooden desk

For guest:
Do you see the power is also interrupted while loosing connection? If so try plugging the modem into different socket. Dont waste money for simple problems.

To configure my siemens 4200 modem I enter 192.168.254.254 into the address bar of the internet browser. You should get a login screen that ask for your user name and password. Default user name should be admin and the password should be admin. I hope this helps you
