LG stainless steel steam dishwasher started making a loud whirring sound while washing dishes. It sounds like a motor spinning. I can't tell where it is coming from, maybe the chopping blade or perhaps the motor. I can hear it spin-up shortly after the cycle starts, and then it stops while it is draining. The sound is only audible while it is washing. We've only had this DW for about 2 years, probably past the warranty, but still quite young as far as appliances go.

Well done by resolving this problem. The other way to avoid the siphoning problem through the drain hose is adding an air gap valve/connector (available at any hardware store). You can use it even if you don't have a garbage disposal in your kitchen sink. That will assure that you have the proper height of the drain hose.
Hope this helps!

It's noisy
If your dishwasher seems noisy, check these:
Water-inlet valve
Motor
Heater fan
Pump
Water-inlet valve
An aging water-inlet valve can sometimes fail slowly, rather than all at once. It can shudder on and off rapidly, causing the incoming water lines to shake, rumble, and rattle--sometimes violently. If yours is doing this, replace the inlet valve.
Motor
If it's the motor that's noisy, either of these may be the "culprit:"
Heater fan
If the heater fan bearings are rusted or worn, they may squeal, or scrape loudly during the drying cycle. If this is the problem, replace the fan motor. Alternatively, the fan blade may be loose. If so, you need to replace it.
Pump
Small fruit pits, toothpicks, and fragments of glass sometimes get stuck in the pump. When this happens, open the pump and remove the debris. The pump is usually mounted directly to the motor, then attached to the bottom of the dishwasher.
To get to the pump, you usually need to remove the lower rack, the spray arms, and the spray arm support from the inside of your dishwasher. A dishwasher pump isn't obvious. Look for an impeller--a round, plastic fan blade-type device that spins around and pushes the water toward the drain. When you can see the drain impeller, you should be able to see the clogging debris.
thanks and accept the solution accordingly

Recommendations:
-Switch to a brand name detergent powder - like Electrosol or Cascade and do not fill the dispenser cup full. You will notice the difference immediately.
-Remove the filter assembly one more time and inspect underneath with a flashlight. Look closely for debris and also inspect the impeller to look for damage and that it is spinning freely.
Reassemble and listen for the growling sound. It should not happen. If it continues, you may have a a failing wash motor / motor bearing.
Please report back what you find. OK?

After reading through someone else's similar problem, and the response posted by Jeff Meyer, I decided to go a little diagnosis. I suspected the chopping blade, so I took the lower sump covers and filters off and got down to the blade. I found a couple of pieces of broken glass, a small pebble in the filter, but this was not the problem. I finally got down to the chopper blade and I found a piece of a broken drill bit about 2 inches long. My guess is the idiotic Home Depot installers are responsible for the drill bit. Or maybe it came that way from the factory, I don't know, but it is not mine - I double checked. Well, the good news is the noise is gone, the fix cost nothing - just an hour of my time. What a relief.
