Dodge RB4 GPS system

The cover labeled NAVIGATION DISC needs to be removed, top left is an opening where a small flat head screwdriver would help. Completely remove cover and eject disc is on the right.

Give me the full model no of the GPS unit.

Here is the link to the user manual if you need it; http://www.rb4navigation.com/RB4-user-manual.pdf Do you have the navigation CD for the east coast?. The unit will not function without this cd being used initially to prime the system with data. (Page 69) Check page 114 and make sure the correct region is selected - if that is set on west coast it could be the root of the problem. Check page 116 - try recalibrating, then see what info is displayed. The time should be correct and steady, and check your correct position from a friend's nav system, see if what your unit is displaying is about right. If it is displaying no position, check in the middle of the screen where it says sat: 05/07. see how many satellites your unit thinks it can see - less than three and it won't function at all, 5+ is pretty much essential if you are moving. Where it says Fix:3 at the top left - what do you have on your unit? (check the next page for a description), this may tell us more about the problem. check if the time being displayed is correct - if not then the unit is looking at the wrong page in the almanac, and wont find anything if none of those items are right, then the prime suspect is the GPS antenna and it's connections and cable. These are the most likely thing to fail in a gps other than the power supply. Check all the connections and cables thoroughly, at the unit and at the antenna, if still no luck then a new antenna should solve the problem The distance pulse/going backwards problem is definitely either the sensor, the cable or the connections - couldn't find any info where this is, but my guess would be either; near the gearbox - the same place where the speedometer sensor/cable comes out, or direct from the vehicle computer as a composite of several sensors info, which would make the vehicle sensor array computer a prime suspect - if the same info is displayed anywhere else in the vehicle correctly (speedometer for instance) then the GPS unit or more likely the cable from the sensor array is the culprit. The distance pulse/ direction info should not prevent you from getting a position when not moving, although it would quite possibly cause a brain malfuction in the unit while moving, I think the unit would automatically choose the satellite info if the signal is ok though. recently the software support for this unit has been discontinued, and customer reviews are to be honest a lot less than great - rather than spending lots of money having this fixed or getting a new antenna etc, I would consider buying a replacement unit - please ask if you want advice on what to get Hope this helps - post back with details of the info on those screens discussed etc and we can hopefully come up with a definite problem before wildly replacing things :)

Sounds like your describing the overhead console display?
If totally blank, check the 20 amp yellow fuse #14 as a 1st step.

The only reason the DVD will not function with the RB4 is if the DVD unit is not talking on the BUS. The RB4 will work with the factory DVD single disc/or DVD changer.Make sure that the BUS is connected to the DVD unit and the Van thru the 22 pin and 10 pin connectors on the back of the radio.

FYI you can copy the files from the NAV disc if you know someone that has the new ver.
I have used 2070 discs but I cannot release them being that we are a Factory authorized service center for the RB4 radio.

You have a problem on the NAV PCB.
Here at Hunt Automotive Electronics we are the only authorized repair center for the Harman RB4 chry Nav radio.I have run across many RB$ units with this problem.

Just pull up the GPS antenna, if ur's is not a touch screen then u neednt touch the screen.

I know the is a old post but i will provide some answers to the question.
1 the radio has to be connected to J1850 bus to talk with the sensors in the vehicle
2 check nav ant for broken wire.
3 check nav ant socket (center pin) should have no less than 4.95 volts DC with radio on.
4 Problem more than likely on nav PCB .
I have run across MANY problems on the nav pcb.
