Had same problem - said signal weak although strong on other devices, and hung on authenticating.
Cordless phone on base unit was beside wireless router. Moved unit and turned off phone. Problem disappeared, and signal showed strong.

My monther's issue was because her ISP's (Bell) router, home hub 3000, comes default with the 2.4G and 5G SSID named the same with the same password. So her 2.4G was on a Band that was super weak, like 30%, but her 5G was at 90%. This was causing her wifi connections to use 5G as it was more available. Problem with the kindle is that it is limited to use the 1 - 11 channels / 2.4G only. I resolved this by going to the routers config (192.168.2.1) and changing the SSID from Bell553 to Foxtrot. Then i changed the 5G SSID to Foxtrox-5G and made different passwords for both. Rebooted the router and the kindle was able to connect to the 2.4G network.

SOURCE: I have the Archos 101

I had the same problem with my third Archos 101 (I've had two replacements to the first one I bought in June 2011). I just got the third one two days ago and it wouldn't connect to my WiFi like the previous two would. I had to add the 101's MAC address to my router's setup and now I'm connecting to the Internet. Alternatively, if your cell phone supports tethering (my HTC Tilt does) you can tether your 101 to access the Internet through your phone. Mine is working well that way....for now.

Will not let me connect to wi-fi it is not my wi-fi servce. it just keeps saying authentication problem

It will say Authenticating problem unless you have the passkey to the other WiFi networks. So unless its your WiFi or an open network you won't be able to connect. But you can try rebooting your device.

Check your wifi password correctly. If you are the owner of the wifi router you are connecting try to press the refresh icon button located on the side of your router.

I have bought a new asus memo 7 and i cannot connect it my wifi, it keeps saying authenticating problem

The issue isn't with the tablet, it is something in your Wifi...there are a number of things that it could be, try simply rebooting your router, that would be the easiest thing to try. If that doesn't work, try switching your tablet to "airplane mode" , and then try to connect...

Why does my tablet keep saying authication problems when trying to connect to wifi and why did my wifi bar from top of screen dissappear

Make sure your wifi is turned on and check to see if you've entered the correct authentication key.. If so, check your wifi and make sure it's not blocking your device from access privileges.. This sometimes happens and you simply need to grant your device access again.. good luck with it...
