Toshiba 32AF42 Poor picture quality

i have a craig tv bought it six months ago it was working fine until i put it on today now it saying no signal i tired everything.it goes on but i cant get any pictur or sound

toshiba bs usually have bad voltage regulator ic's also bad caps in pwr supply and conn. on flyback

Likely something went bad/shorted in TV.

I think you'd have to look at how much a comparable set would cost. I know that flat screen sets are coming down in price.

One thing you could try is to adjust the focus control although if it just went all of a sudden, then this may not help. There are two controls on the flyback transformer. Follow the thick red wire from the top of the picture tube down to the transformer that it's connected to on the circuit board. There will be two controls, the upper one being focus (marked with an "f" or the word focus). Try adjusting this while watching the picture. A mirror may be helpful. At the same time, be very careful what you touch in there, any metal part could have high voltage on it. As long as you are just touching plastic parts you should be ok. A good rule of thumb is to keep one hand behind your back as you work so as you don't inadvertantly ground yourself to the chassis while touching something with a high voltage on it.

If this scares you a little perhaps it's worth taking the set to a shop for an estimate.

I have the exact same problem a month ago. I replaced the two STK392-110 ICs with the STK392-110T adn everything went back to the way it was.

Hi. Sounds like DRY JOINTS WITHIN DFS MODULE. This is a pcb within a rectangular metal screened box on the left hand side of set when looking from the front. Will need resoldering be carefull very fine print will need decent soldering iron with fine tip & poss magnyfying lamp to aid looking. If your not at all sure take to repair shop. This TV is nice set has one of the best crt pictures you can get.

your tv needs to be repair again power supply problem or circuit.good luck.

Lamp ? wrong terminolgy, there are no lamps in tvs, it is likely to be a fault on the CRT board.$100.
