It was working fine when i left the room, but came back and the picture was out. I assume the sound is too, but have the sound turned off. I disconnected everything, unplugged the tv from the surge protector for 10 minutes and the tv power light comes on, the screen gets slightly lighter, but nothing else. No commands are working on the remote, except for power. I also used the universal remote and tried to push the buttons manually on the side, but nothing. TV is about 6 weeks old. Possible that a board is blown?
Yes take it back 6 weeks i would return it

RJW34 I have a 37" Viizio LCD that has a similar problem. I power it up and I get a lit screen but it's blank. No controls work except power on and off.

1. Is Power board output +5V?
2. Is J1 (#19 in the right diagram)connector good?
3. Is DC-DC OK, check the voltage at J1 using a
multimeter.
4. Is U4 (3.3V) working ok, U4 is an IC, you’ll need an
IC tester or an oscilloscope to check this IC.
After checking this if it still doesn’t
work then check P3 D-sub Input (on the D-board). See this schematic for
details--

Try unplugging it for about an hour to let it reset itself first, if it is still bad, you will have to do in-depth troubleshooting to narrow down the cause.

Vizio HDTV- Lips out of sync
Anyone with a new Vizio E601i-A3 60" or 70" HDTV that is
having audio "Lips out of sync problems" with a cable or satellite box.
On Comcast cable boxes (or others), here's what you need to
do: FIND MENU for AUDIO or HDMI setup on
CABLE BOX or Satellite Box.
FOR COMCAST
1. Turn on TV and have Cable box Turned OFF.
2. Press MENU on COMCAST REMOTE.
3. Go to AUDIO Setting OR HDMI Setting. (On cable or Sat.
BOX)
4. Change setting from Auto to L-PCM. (Turn off cable box to
exit)
This should resolve any "out of sync" lips to picture after
commercials on HD channels.
*This is a handshaking issue from the cable box to the Vizio
