your issues is a hands no deal, no net bunny can diagnose noise.
if you google finding car noises, you can read for a week.
vast numbers of tests, and inspections, etc.
noise is the most hard of all.
now a bad clutch
if you depress the clutch, just to take out the slack. running
and it makes noise this is the end of life sound for
your throw out bearing, or there is junk (road kill) in the linkage
undercar, all mech know what do, first look then fell the throwout.
ive even removed the linkage, and flexed the bell arm and can
fell the bearing beating my hand harshly, this is the acid test.
SOURCE: 94 Geo Prizm CV or driveaxle?
on this type of vehichle, you have two axles in the front; one going to each side. Chances are that the boot at the axle joint was torn and that is why you are having problem. In teh past people used to replace the boot, this day and age its actually cheaper to replace the axle. So you would need to replace that side of the axle (the half shaft).

SOURCE: 1996 Geo Prizm power steering noise
Hi:
If you have been loosing fluid for some time, and running the car with low fluid in the power steering pump, then the pump is most likely worn and causing your noise. Do you know where your leak is? You might need just a power steering hose, but no matter what, your power steering pump is the most likely cause of your noise!
