Video keeps going black. Move the mouse and it comes back. In and out. Tried replacing the monitor, same thing. Tried turning sleep off and same thing. Video card is built into the mother board so can not just replace it. Can I plug a video card into the PCI slot? If so will it take over and work? Anyone else had this problem.
Buy a Graphic Card PCI e x16 compatible. Install, Move the monitor cable to the new card connection and your good to go, with better graphics. If you haven't installed a Graphics Card before, do a little research. Take a look at this for example: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01684404&tmp_task=useCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=3970026

Hi there.
There are no jumpers to move at all, just turn the computer off, take out the PCI Express card, put back the side panel and plug the VGA lead into the on-board D-plug and boot up the computer and that's it.
Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!

If the computer is starts up normally other than the no-video problem (that is, you hear all the normal sounds from the computer and the usual Windows startup music), then you probably do need a new video card. According to HP's spec page for the motherboard used, you'll need a PCI-E video card. Don't confuse this with a regular PCI card which has a different connector.
The spec page also says the board has integrated graphics. so you could remove any video card that's been installed and try booting with the built-in video. If everything else is working properly you can use that until you get a new expansion video card.
If the trouble is that the computer's not booting at all even though it's coming on, you'll need to figure out why. This might be a memory or video problem, although these usually cause some beep code if the motherboard gets into its POST (power on self-test). If nothing at all happens, this is often the sign of a bad power supply, processor chip or system board.

you can either use the integrated OR the video card, CANNOT both at the same time.. You should buy a PCIe graphic card with dual output support.

Hi there you need to make sure the monitor is properly connected and make sure you install the drivers for the new video card.If you still have the problem you should open the computer and check the memory by taking it out and put in into another memory slot on the motherboard. If you have more than one memory in the computer please take them out one at a time and restart the computer if that does not work you should replace them you new one that is compatible with your computer.
