I have a hobart A200-T mixer that has a problem with 1st speed.
The 1st speed have no torque. I can stop it with my hand. The 2nd and
3rd. gears works perfect. I take it all apart and check all gears and keys
and they all good. I also try to adjust the bolts on the top and bottom
of the center shaft and still no luck. Please help!!!
Hi mark,im a hobart tech and repair these mixers often.Depending on the year of the mixer there are 2 types of gear configurations for 1st speed. On older units they have a dive key---newer units have a spray clutch. When you took it apart did the center shaft (not the one to the left or upper left) have a big gear with ball bearings in it (spray clutch)? If not then its an older unit with a dive key.You need to take the center shaft apart and you will see a little spring built into the shaft,if theres no spring the whole shaft needs to be replaced if its intact it needs to be lubed--I think the spring would be broke.Any?
Check the spring pin that locks the motor shaft to the main drive gear in the gear box. You should be able to turn the motor from the back at the cooling fins and watch the shaft spin in the gear, that is if the pin is sheared. That is a common problem. if you plan on keeping this machine for a while, i recomend that you spend a little more on a quality spring pin,

good luck.

Thank you for your solution, but still don't understand what you
talking about spring pin that locks the motor shaft. Can you
email me a drawing of where about the part you are talking about.

Thank you in advanced
