How to change belt on Eureka maxima 4700a

I have a eureka maxima 4700a and the brush is not spinning. I believe the belt is broke, but it happened when my wife used it. I lost the manual, so how do I check and change the belt? Have no idea how to take it apart to do so. Thanks

I believe the belt broke. There is a little window where you can see the dashed yellow lines. I can no longer see these. I can't find my manual, and there are no screws at the bottom of the vacuum or it looks like the top. I do see some screws in the back, but now can't find my screwdriver. Once I figure how to get this cover off, how do I change the belt?

Hey i had the same problem with mine, (standing over it and looking straight down) there should be two screws on the top of the yellow cover, one on each side, take those out and the yellow cover should easliy pop off. if the white ink is off the belt or the belt isnt tight than replace, once off just pop the wheel brush (which has the belt around it) up out of its socket and take off of the belt from the wheel brush and motor's metal pole, then put on the new one just like the old one was. let me know how it works out, [email protected]

My girlfriend had the same problem. The brush stopped turning. I unscrewed the two screws on the top of the front yellow plate and it popped right off. The belt had snapped. Looks like an easy replacement. Seems like a cheap vacuum.

My Eureka Maxima 4704 had blue plastic housing so ours did not have a "yellow plate". However, once the two screws on top were removed I was eventually able remove the cover over the beater bar and belt, replace the broken belt and reassemble.

Interesting that the manual provides step-by-steps on how to replace the bulb but mentions nothing about how to replace the belt.

The bearing has went out on mine -- look to see if the end "caps" on the beater bar are not ""lobsided" -- my bearings were out but it still lasted long enough that it was worth the price of the vacuum

I need to know what type of belt my Eureka Maxima vacuum takes.

The belt you need is one that fits the 4700 series or if you find any other Eureka packaging the belt would be the "U" series. You can find them at Wal-Mart.

Belt is off

You need to replace the belt. Over time they stretch and wear and then don't stay on and make it so the vacuum doesn't pick up well. Here is the belt you need and a manual you can view which has instructions:

Eureka Altima Bagless Upright Brush is not spinning

You probably just have a broken belt. The belt needs to be changed about every 6 months regardless. I believe yours takes a style EXT U(Extended life upright), or a regular Eureka "U" belt works fine too.

Eureka Maxima Bagless brush not spinning in vacuum position

belt doesnt have to be broken, check the metal arm on the vacuum, see if there is build up of old rubber from previous belts, clean the arm that spins the belt and double check to make sure u have the correct belt

Eureka 4700a bagless vacuum

it's probably the lower tube that is plugged, disconnect the lower tube at the elbow, use a large pipe cleaner (bent at the end your pushing through, as to not puncture the tube itself.) it should emerge just behind the brush. check in and around the pipe cleaner for any debris.
