I have a Vizio 42" LCD HDTV (VW42L FHDTV10A) and the Screen is cracked. This TV is only 4 months old. I am trying to find a replacement screen for this TV, Vizio will sell you any component except the screen!!!
Can anyone direct me to a company that can and will sell me a new screen.
Thank you.Dennis
So no solution I was thinking of going to Walmart buying another one just like it and bringing it home buy stupid product replacement plan and just take off back panel with serial number on it and switch with new tv and than return I saying it was broken when I opened package
Same S*#@ here, a little kids plastic pellet was the cause of my 42 inch, wall mounted and much loved Vizio.
I guess the best bet would be finding a broken one with a good screen and cannibalizing it for parts.
That is my plan at least.
Ps: Why can't they put some protective clear coat over it such as plasma have. Anyone have an answer: VIzio?

SOURCE: Vizio 42 in TV LCD HDTV white line across to of
That white line (usually jagged) is actuallly part of the transmitted picture. However, you are not intended to see it because it is located in what is known as the 5% overscan area. Your TVs today are more than just cable ready... they are a versital, technology filled multimedia display. You can see that line because the screen size or wide mode you are using is intended for 1080p/24 signals. You have 0% overscan with this screen size setting. This allows you to see ALL of the picture, including portions of the picture the broadcaster did not intend for you to see. You can change your screen size using the Wide feature in the Setup menu. See pg.62 of your user manual for details and descriptions of the various wide modes.

It can be the unstable power supply due to bad DC filter caps, bad T-CON boards, main board.
I would inspect the power supply first for caps with domed tops.

We hit the screen with a Wii remote, and I have tried for a year to get replaced. Only one offer from Vizio to ship one from overseas for $1500.00!! Looks like we were cracked for buying Vizio.
