Pool pump won't prime

I have a New pentair whisperflo, about 1yr. old. Been working great. Today I was vacuuming a few leaves off the bottom of the pool and the vac line suddenly jumped and the suction went away. The leaf filter was packed when I emptied it. Now the pump won't prime. A little water is being pulled through at the skimmer basket and the pool is full. Air bubbles are coming out the return and the pump is pulling some water through at the leaf filter but just won't really get going. Any ideas where to start? I'm about to clean the filter and inspect things internally.

Check for air leaks, cover o-ring is common culprit. anything in front of pump can cause this.

the pump is doing what it was designed for any difference in suction will make it error out you might have to set it on manual to vacuum

WhisperFlo wont run

do you have voltage to unit if so with unit off turn the motor shaft by hand a few times then try it if it doesnt work need a new pump motor

Pentair WhisperFlo 1hp, 230v, Dual Speed won't start in morning

If the high speed side of a two speed pump will not operate it is because there is a problem with the windings on the high side of the motor.
You will need to either take it to a motor shop and have them fix it or replace the complete motor.

Pool won't hold prime. I cleaned the filter & basket. Prime is slow to come up but then surges up and immediately drops back down.

Pump will not hold prime. Water flows into basket, primes up to 25 then wather flows back out. Then will repeat priming action but will not hold.

1.5 HP PUMP JUST HUMS?

If its the "hum" that bothers you there can be debris in the impeller, take out the pump basket, reach down and feel the plastic blades beyond the hole at the bottom of the pump, should be smooth and clean. Hair often builds up at this point and causes noise. If this is a water flow problem I'm assuming its an in-ground pool. When you "prime" the pump make sure you are pulling off only the main drain.

3/4 Whisperflo will not prime

once you figure out why it's having trouble priming, you can reduce the discharge side with a valve to adjust the flow to what you need. You can always always reduce the discharge side but never the suction side.

Drip leak from bottom of pump. Loses prime nightly. Is it a gasket or shaft seal? Can I get replacement parts? Where? Thank you!

Could be both I always change gasket when changing seal and vice versa.
