SOURCE: acer crystal eye webcam icon lost and can't be found

The fastest way of fixing it just reinstalling the driver. here's the link
http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver/Wireless%20LAN/Wireless%20LAN_Intel_11.5.1.8_Vistax64Vistax86_A.zip?acerid=633958596890069624&Step1=Notebook&Step2=Aspire&Step3=Aspire%206920&OS=V10&LC=en&BC=Acer&SC=PA_6

After you download it and run it. It would probably tell you If you want to uninstall instead of install. Uninstall, restart the computer and run the software again to reinstall. It should fix your issue. I hope this helps.

Driver webcam crystal eye

Crystal Eye is a webcam application included with some Acer laptops.
Laptops that have the Crystal Eye WebCam application installed also have a camera built in to the monitor.
Crystal Eye can adjust the camera's brightness, contrast and color intensity, and capture photos.
If you removed the Crystal Eye WebCam application from your Acer laptop on accident, you can download the software from the Acer website and reinstall the application to your PC.

Click "Start." Click "Control Panel." Input "device" into the search box. Click "Device Manager."
Expand "Imaging Devices."
Double-click the Web camera to find the name of the manufacturer.
Go to Acer Support.
Select "Notebook" from the "Select Your Product" menu.
Select the notebook's product line, then select its product model.
Click "Confirm."
Click the "Applications" tab.
Select an operating system from the "Operating Systems" drop-down menu on the far right.
Scroll to "Camera." Download "WebCam Application."
Use the manufacturer information found in Device Manager to determine which vendor to download from.
Save the file to the desktop.
Double-click the file to run the setup for the Crystal Eye WebCam.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Acer supporthttp://support.acer.com/us/en/default.aspx
Click start control panel view devices and printers you should see your webcam from there
if you are have trouble with your webcam
Click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll down image devices you could see a yellow question mark?
right click to reinstall drivers or update driver xp
Click start right click on computer select properties device manager scroll to image devices expand right click to update driver in W7
http://download.cnet.com/2000-20_4.html
on the home page you should see a search tab just type in what you are looking for
IE: webcam name webcam driver you might have to try a few times to get it right
software if you dont have the driver you will need to download one here rather doing a driver hunt which can take hours
http://download.cnet.com/slimdrivers-free/3000-18513_4-75279940.html
Windows XP/Vista/7/8
It might take some time being a freeware driver solution
note: it will find all of your outdated drivers
this is a free driver solutions
This will automatically search for and find the correct driver
you will have to update every driver individually once you update you might be asked whether you
want to restart or make a system restore point click no to both of these then continue updating each driver free then restart once all of the drivers have been updated
Some webcams and programs require additional software, although that should be installed with the webcam if things are right.
But is does not harm to check if your Java, Flash and Quicktime software are installed and up to date.
But certainly check your DirectX software, since all video applications, including webcams, use DirectX for video processing.
Try downloading the latest DirectX version and install it (Windows XP: DirectX 9.0c - Windows Vista: DirectX 10).

Why does it say "camera not found"?

You need to install the camera driver. Try to Google the camera brand.

I have an ACER Crystal Eye integrated webcam that does not work. Checks of software and driver upgrades state I have the latest version. Check on device manager and webcam error code 10 appears. Solution...

found this solution online
Want to know what worked for me? Acer drivers.

I found this driver: Acer Extensa 5210 Chicony Webcam Driver 5.7

(I have also mirrored the file here.)

Here are the exact steps I took.

1. Downloaded the file.
2. Unzipped it to a folder on my desktop.
3. Ran the "Setup.exe" file in the folder that got unzipped.
4. Went through the installer until it got to the end and then let it restart my computer.
5. Waited for my computer to restart.
6. It popped up something saying it was installing the drivers for my webcam. Waited until it was done.
7. Opened the Control Panel.
8. Opened the Device Manager.
9. Find my webcam under "Imaging Devices". I noticed it was listed as "HP Pavilion Webcam" despite having just installed the Acer drivers.
10. Right-clicked on my webcam and chose "Update Driver Software..."
11. Chose "Browse my computer for driver software"
12. Chose "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
13. Unchecked the "Show compatible hardware" checkbox.
14. Scrolled down to the Chicony manufacturer.
15. Chose the "Acer Crystal Eye webcam.
16. Told it to install anyway when it asked me a question about installing that driver.
17. Waited for the driver to be installed.
18. Noted that my webcam was now listed as an Acer Crystal Eye webcam in Device Manager.

And that was it. It appears to work totally fine now! Again, I have my fingers crossed that it won't suddenly break again, but so far so good.

Forgot to note: This is on a DV6000T running Windows Vista 32-Bit Home Premium.

And here's proof: smile.gif

I took that with Dorgem, an excellent, free, open source webcam application.
