When watching TV for an extended period of time, the video and audio will cut out for a second. This happens with various input devices on various HDMI inputs. This is very annoying since it makes watching a movie harassing.

Before you buy anything try checking the AUDIO Settings in the Menu of Each Device (Mostly TV) and see if they are set to PCM or BITSTREAM. HDMI is mostly set to PCM while Optical is generally Bitstream. The TV may be set to the opposite of what it needs to be. I would try to get PCM to work first cause it is Better, If not then set what you can to Bitstream and it should pass. Also check in TV Menu for SOUND OUT or AUDIO OUT or SPEAKERS. Some TV's have a problem passing Audio through when they are already Outputting them to it's own Speakers! I Hope this Helps out!

I have the same receiver... You can try pressing the Option button and choosing Signal Info to see what audio signal the receiver sees and if that changes over time. Maybe the cable box is not outputting according to specifications... TV can live with that, but receiver maybe can't.
You can also try to connect the cable box via SPDIF cable (optical or coax) to see if it helps or not.

during a movie or tv show, the tv will go blank and the audio will pause for half a second before flickering back on. I don't think it is the TV since the audio isn't outputting through the tv, it goes through surround sound. Could it be a bad connection somewhere?
