Instructions say connect to pc and go to belkin web site but this is not possible.
You can also try to connect this device using a wired connection to your computer or laptop Running Windows 7 or Windows 8. The first thing to do, is make sure that you press the little reset button on the device so that the device memory is cleared. Then all you have to do is open up Google browser or Internet Explorer and type in 192.168.2.1 and hit enter, and that will bring you to the Belkin Setup Menu. From here you can add this device to any home or office network just follow the on-screen step-by-step instructions

you will need to set up the router first, with a wired connection. Write down the wireless settings for setup later. Then setup the wireless receiver on the PC with the same settings that you had on the router. You should remember that distance, obstacles, etc. will affect a signal. Also, remember that you may not be the only one in your area with a wireless network, so remember to change the channel on the router to something other than the default, and set up security, at least WEP.

do you have a Wireless Router + Broadband modem? This is like a base station to which your remote wireless node communicates (to get connected to your home network and internet. something like this http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=187337 for an ADSL connection. If you are on cable, you can either get a Router similar to the one above (but for cable) http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1138056788757&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=8875739789B01 or if your Cable modem has LAN ports you may just be able to use an "Access Point" to add Wireless capabilities. http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1126536803676&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=0367639789B22

that does seem a long time to connect... is it the wireless connection or getting an IP that is the delay... if it's IP then the network icon in the taskbar will have a moving part to the icon rather than being static... kinda yello ball running along a wire (if ya know what I mean)
try THIS util to see what your signal strength is and if there any other services sharing the same channel. Maybe you need to change the channel of the router?

the passkey is the code that is found in your router security settings, each routers number is different, so look in the router, as you must of initially done this to get your pc to connect wirelessly
SOURCE: I have the belkin wireless
i had the same exact problem. not only is the adapter itself garbage, but the software and driver is garbage. i had to completely remove all traces of the driver/software from my computer, restart, hook up the ethernet cable and go to the belkin site to download the updated driver/software for my version of the adapter(very important to get the correct ones). i downloaded them and ran that set up. DO NOT use the software on the disc!!! it has the wrong driver file and will conflict with the right one you download. after i did all this, the adapter worked, but kept a weak signal. and you need to make sure you have the right network key that is set up on your router config. any questions - [email protected]
