Hi, Have you checked the cpu cooling system, usually this happens if the heatsink does not sit on the CPU surface or there is some air gap, use heatsink compound to fill up the gap , or sometimes the fan RMP is slow cause of wear /tear.If not then check your ram and PSU.

IBM server x3400 not starting

Hi,
This is a Planner issue (Mother Board) . Open side cover and investigate capacitor status . Probably some capacitors are bulged . Check it and replace if necessary .

My laptop keeps all of a sudden shutting off?

The harddrive might be corrupted. Reboot the computer, but before Windows comes up, activate or go into the BIOS. It's usually a key option displayed to get into set-up. Press that key. Once in the BIOS, see if the computer shuts down. If it doesn't, then the problem is in the harddrive.

Ibm xseries 226 is not initializing.. the fans start when i power onn the system but not more than 5-10 seconds.. and there is no display.. there is only one processor on board right now. pls help

If you are comfortable getting inside the PC here's some things you can try.
  1. Take the side panel off and pull the memory sticks out. Now turn the PC on without the sticks in it and listen for a screaming banshie. If you hear the screaming banshie it means *********** board should be okay. If you hear no noise at all there you may have a bad mother board. 6df7c5d.jpg
  2. While inside the PC unplug all cables for about 10 seconds and plug them back in. Do this one at a time so you don't loose track of where they go. Also carefully pull the processor out and plug them back in. Turn PC back on and test. 3513f7b.jpg
  3. Unplug the power supply from the mother board and plug it onto power socket by itself without having anything connected to it and see if it runs okay on it's own. If not it's probably bad.
  4. Last but not least If you know how to boot the PC into the BIOS configuration do so and check what temperature the PC is set to shut down at.

Hope this was helpful.
Good Luck

Power supply will intermittantly not turn on when start button is depressed. After a period of time, it will start. Ten or 20 minute wait period insufficient. Sometimes successfull after several hours. No...

This could be one of two issues: Your motherboard may be set to shut down when your CPU reaches a low temperature, which can be fixed by getting into your computers' BIOS settings...Or replace your power supply.

My IBM T42 thinkpad would not start all of a sudden. The battery and AC power supply seem to be working fine. But everytime I start the laptop, there is a blank screen..the hard drive icon also does not...

Whops that sounds like a Mother Board Issue Common to IBMs.

What happens when you try to reload the O.S ? I would imagine it still shuts down. If over heats the computer will still turn on but not stay on, will shut down when the sensor on the CPU detectes excessive heat > 75 degrees F .

The problem is somewhere in the Power Supply flip flop Circuit System on the Motherboard most likely but thats academic!

You really cannot "repair" them, only replace them and usually that does not pay; the board costing more than the Computer is worth and Installing it is really a "Factory" Operation.

TIgar has a good selection of Levono Factor Rebuilt Notebooks (hint) lol :)

Mother board problem

First sometimes a PC will automatically shut down if the BIOS settings for temperature set and there is an issue. IE a fan is out and the PC is overheating. If you are sure that is not an issue. Then you can flash or do a BIOS reset by opening up the computer (TOUCH THE POWER SUPPLY BEFORE touching ANYTHING to the motherboard or any internals..this will take away any static you may have before you touch the motherboard). Then look on your motherboard for a jumper for the BIOS reset. You will have to move the jumper to one side to reset it. Then power up your machine, then power it down again and place it back into its original position. This "flashes" or "resets" the BIOS. NOTE: before EVER working internally power DOWN the machine and UNPLUG it!

The computer turns on but do nothin more....

It sounds like the BIOS chip is bad. if you cant reflash the BIOS, then the board is dead.
