Others in my office can access via the Netgear on their iPads. I have turned off my laptop firewall, and I am able to view the netgear configuration page via the IP address wirelessly. No internet though.
Have you opened Internet Options, Connections tab, Lan settings, Check Auto Detect. OR release and renew your IP address : http://www.wikihow.com/Refresh-Your-IP-Address-on-a-Windows-Computer Is your wireless adapter enabled? Drivers up-to-date? in working order? Have you run the diagnose in Manage Network Connections. What is your Anti Virus? Try connecting with it disabled?

With Vista on the Laptop it should be just a matter of double clicking the router in the network settings, vista should automatically configure the connection.
This has happened to me before and this is what I did just to see if it worked, and it did flawlessly.

What are you using for VPN? If you are using PPTP, it's probably due to split tunneling enabled. Goto Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > Right click on VPN Network Adapter, then click Properties > then click Networking tab > select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), then click properties > click Advanced button and uncheck Use Default gateway on remote network.
Hope this helps.

Verify that you can connect to the internet without the router by hooking the cable from the dsl modem to your computers NIC.
If you can connect to the internet that way the problem is with the router. press and hold the reset button on the back of the router to reset it to the factory settings. (this just makes it easy to determine the problem) if this corrects the problem you can setup your security again

I think the DHCP server on the router is not working properly and that is why your wired compuetr is not getting the IP address from the router.
The best option to resolve the problem is assign a static IP address on the wired computer.
First check the IP address of the router,
For example , the IP address of the router is 192.168.1.1, then assign a static IP on the computer in the range of the router IP address for example 192.168.1.10.
For WIN XP
START ==> Control panel => network connection => local area connection - right click on local area connection and go to properties ==> select the option Internet Protocol TCP/IP and click on properties button. Now you will the option obtain IP address automatically.
Change it to use the following IP address . Here you can assign a static IP.
