The eMachines T5048 Desktop PC, uses the NexGen 2 computer case.
(Also uses an Intel D102GGC2 motherboard)

The front panel is the Front Bezel.
It is removed by grasping the right side of it, and pulling out, G-E-N-T-L-Y

There Power On switch wires, Power On LED wires, USB front panel wires, Card Reader wires, etc., are still attached.

Usually there are plastic tabs formed out of the Front Panel, and they snap into slots in the metal computer case frame.

Usually 3 per side. They are flat, and have a hooked end.
They are pressed to the outside, or inside of the case, to release the hooked end away from the side of the slot.

LOOK at the tab. Look at the hooked end. SEE which direction THAT flat tab should be eased over to, in order to bring the hooked end away from the side of the slotted hole.

When the hooked end is in the middle of the slotted hole, the flat tab can then be eased OUT of the slotted hole.

DO NOT assume all tabs go in the same direction }

[ The area of contact pins on the motherboard, that the wires from the Front Panel go to, (Except for the USB and Card Reader), is the Front Panel header.

The wires should be labeled HDD,POWER, and i think RESET or somthing, just look on the motherboard within cord reach and you should see all three labeled on the motherboard all grouped together.

Hopefully eMachines are consistent with their wiring/layout design, that being the case this diagram for T2898 (by benz18724) should point you in the right direction...



Alternatively compare the abbreviated pin symbols on the header to the motherboard and match them up.

I assume you are trying to connect the wires from the faceplate to the motherboard. Get a magnifying glass and see if the board is marked as to Power, Speaker, HDD LED, Reset, etc. Trace the wires to the faceplate and note what the function of each pair of wires is and attach to motherboard as necessary.

I can tell you that most likely the white wire is the ground wire. The others are positive. The two manual found on eMachine's site does not provide enough of detail.

Replacing the front I/O Panel (Pages 168, 170 see number 5).

The information is not specific enough, my guess is the front panel connections is the cable to the far right. (Looking at the picture).
You can try by looking at the picture & hooking the cable as shown.
The white colored wire seems to face to the right. Than try the power on button. If system does not come on, turn the connector 180 & reconnect. Try the power on button on the case.

Green/wht normally = Reset or Power LED
Red/wht normally = HDD LED
And is the third red/BLACK?
There should be a label on the black pin jumper at the end of each wire.
Does it say anything?

they have to be plugged in horizontally although it is possible to plug them in vertically because the pins are evenly spaced either way. they are color coded just not like you would expect for example one plug has a green wire and a white wire the green side goes to the green pin and the white side goes to a green pin with a white cross you have to look close because there are several green pins which is what threw me off do this with all three plugs

I doubt you can replace it with the same on unless you bought another motherboard from emachine. You can buy a new motherboard just make sure it will accept your cpu and memory. Also make sure it will fit in the case and it has the same connections as your old motherboard ex. hard drive, printer ports, power supply....
