Thanks for the quick answer on the amount of memory my ASRock P4VM8 board will handle. I need to know If I can run PC3200 in both memory slots. The Manual is a bit off on this subject. I ran the Crucial memory scan and it will handle both PC2700 and PC 3200. The manual shows that # 1 slot will handle 3200 and slot #2 will handle PC 2700? Right now I'm running PC 3200 in 512 Mb in both slots. I'm going to buy the memory tonight I just need to know which type to get. I hope it's PC3200 as Fry's has a good deal on it at my local store for a matched pair of 1 GB each stick. I need to free up as much speed as I can. Vista is a bit of a system drag. I'm going to purchase the Creative Sound Blaster X-FI Xtreme 7.1 to take more load off the main board chips. I read that it will free up the system up by 15% or more by using a PCI sound card is this so? I liked the on-board AC 97 chip but Vista cuts my 4 speaker sound down to 2 no matter what drivers I get.

Did you get this taken care of?
You do want matched pairs of RAM but its the timings in the chips that matters most.
And you do not want to put more than 2GB of RAM on Vista especially is you use Vista 32bit as the OS.
Each RAM chip has a small chip that allows two dissimilar chips to snyc up at speeds compatible with both, but not all motherboards can handle this math conversion correctly so getting the right module is crucial.
Let me know if you got good modules at Frys or need some more assistance on the RAM modules at PC 3200 that are compatible with the motherboard memory controller.
