How to change the SSID & Password on Belkin.122 wireless router.

How do I change the SSID & Password on this wireless router. Why is it that I can access my web service with my tablet pc without having to give my router's SSID & Password & my grand kids can't? Will changing the Belking SSID & Password & giving it to the kids, allow all of us to access the web?? Thanks--Rick L.

Grandkids should see SSID on their computer if it is being broadcast by your modem ( you probably have modem/ router) if they don't see SSID , your modem may have broadcast SSID set to off. If they can see it, have them enter your password. Passwords are case sensative .

SOURCE: Wireless Router RG54G2

assuming you have tried without typing a password; try admin or password or router admin. You can reset the router by a hole recess normally at the rear of the unit using a pen tip and push it in for 5 seconds or so.

I had my wireless router programed in my computer, i got an ipod for christmas and was trying to get it to run off my router, somehow i ended up deleteing it from my computer, so now the only way it will...

Hi

To connect the IPod you need not connect the cord to the router again.
See if the wireless computer is able to go online via rotuer.
Though you have deleted the software from the computer you should still be able to get the wireless in the Ipod by the following steps.

* Open a internet explorer in the computer that is connect to the router wirelessly.
* In the address box type the numbers : 192.168.2.1 & press enter.
* It will take you to belkin router setup screen.
* In the belkin scree on the left hand side you will see Channel & SSID under wireless click on that.
* Once it prompt for password leave it blank & press submit.
* Check what is the SSID & write it down in a peice of paper.
* After that click on security below wireless.
* Here you will see the security that you have set up for the wireless - Note that down in a piece of paper also.
* Now in your Ipod once you search for the wireless network you will see the SSID that you have set up in the router.
* Click on the SSID & click connect.
* It will prompt to type the password for which you will have to type the password that you discovered from the router & press connect.
* You should be able to connect to internet in the Ipod also.

Thanks

I need to change the name of my Belkin Wireless (automatic) name and password. Can you walk me through this?

How to quickly install and use your Belkin wireless G router 1. Step 1
Position your Belkin wireless G router.

Place your wireless G router in a wide open and central location. Don't connect the power plug into the router, yet. Make sure your computer is turned off.

2. Step 2
Connect all the devices.

Find the Ethernet cable that connects your PC to the modem. Unplug the Ethernet cable from your PC and insert it into the wireless G router's WAN port. You should have an additional Ethernet cable that came with your router. Take this cable and plug one end into one of the LAN ports on the router. Then connect the other end to your PC's Ethernet port.

3. Step 3
Turn on your modem, router, and PC.

Plug the power plug adapter into the modem. Turn on the modem. It'll take approximately 30 seconds for the modem to boot up. Connect the power plug adapter to the router and the other end into a power strip or outlet. Like the modem, it'll take about 30 seconds for the router to boot. Turn on your PC.

4. Step 4
Verify lights are on for your devices.

Make sure the following lights are on for your router: power, WAN, and LAN light. If you don't see any of them lit, confirm these devices are turned on. Make sure the Ethernet cable connections are installed correctly.

5. Step 5
Install and configure software.

Use the setup wizard application to configure your Belkin wireless G router. Set up features, such as creating your password and setting up your time zone. Continue to follow the setup wizard so you can configure  other settings.

jQuery('.article ol .image').each(function(i,e){ var $this = jQuery(this); $this.find('img').error(function(){ jQuery(this).remove(); $this.remove(); }); });

Wireless

Have you configured the Belkin wireless router?
You need to configure the Belkin using a 10baseT network cable first before you configure the wireless card.

To make your wireless router secure you need to use your browser and type in the Belkin IP configuration address.
Then you need to change the Admin password, change SSID and turn off SSID broadcast, setup the encryption (use WAP or WAP2 if your wireless card supports WAP) and for added protection use MAC address filtering.
