HP laserjet 2200D connected via USB gives problem

I have connected the printer with a usb/parallel cable to port USB001.
Initially it works fine but after some time of not using it it does not work anymore.
The printjob comes in an error state.
If I disconnect/connect the USB cable, it start to works again.

The USB connection is direct to the USB connector of the PC, not using the hub.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

Thank you very much for the quick reply.I tried it but I got a better suggestion from another forum: Use the USB connection of the printer instead.
I did not even konw that there it is possible to use a direct USB connection.

    Thanks again.

HP LaserJet 1022 is a "host-based" printer so it must be connected to a PC. Load the driver on PC first and connect the USB cable when software tells you to do so.

Will not work on a Linksys print server.

LaserJet 1022N & LaserJet 1022NW have "special" HP print servers that can support HP host based printers.

I have an old serial printer that works fine, I can not connect it to my new computer via a parallel to usb cable convertor on windows 7!

Hi craig931, First try downloading the latest driver of your printer and your usb converter compatible for windows 7. Second Checked your device manager if your printer and usb to parallel driver properly installed, it should be there. If not yet installed try using different usb port one at a time until the cable have been detected. Third if you see already the printer port force to change it to USB001 or Com1, then try to print. regards,

I have a citizen prolaser 6000 laser printer, it emulates HP Laserjet 3, I want to connect it to my laptop via a usb interface cable, currently it is connected to the printer port of a desktop (lpt1 for...

There is three things that you will need:
Proper port set up on laptop device manager (Check settings) LPT1 is for a parallel port - Need USB Correct Driver for the Citizen 6000 Pro Laser (Windows should auto install) Hub that will communicate via USB to the IEEE 1284 Printer via cable.
Driver Site: http://www.driverfiles.net/Printers/Citizen/Prolaser-6000-Printer-Driver/download/page,sh,38839,389,12,.html
I hate to suggest, but you may have to call Microsoft Citizen Tech Support for suggestions on the Hub that will communicate via USB properly. Check your manual for setup options.

Is it possible to connect an old, still very efficient HP 5L Laserjet Printer which uses parellel port cable to a new computer via a USB cable? If yes, what do I need?

Yes it is. You just need a Parallel to USB adapter. Here is a link to an example of what you need.

Parallel to USB

I have done this several times with Parallel Receipt Printers. Works Great!!

Another option would be to add a Parallel Port to your new computer. Here is another link.

PCI Parallel Card

The 1st option is probably the cheapest and easiest.

Good luck and have a great day!

There might be a problem with your computer as well. Try printing with paralell cable to make sure the interface works at all. If the patalell-port works fine, try updating the printers firmware. Still problems ? Try with a different computer. If if works fine with another computer, then you know theres something wrong with your first computer. Good luck.

HP Laser Jet 1320n series

The HP LaserJet 1320 has a USB port and a Parallel port.

The HP LaserJet 1320n has a USB port and an Ethernet port.

USB-to-Parallel converter cables, like this one, are designed to attach a parallel device to a computer's USB port.

But you need to do the opposite (attach a USB device to a computer's parallel port). A USB-to-Parallel converter cable will not do this.
