Wheelwriter 6 type writer has been working fine. then it stopped working. you can press the letters but nothing appears on the paper. I've taken out the ribbon and the wheel and everything looks fine. I've replaced the AA batteries and that did not seem to do anything. Also turned it off several times and turned it back on. Thank you in advance for your time. when you type, the wheel does not seem to change positions; however, when you turn it off and back on the wheel spins.

Thank you for your prompt response. Where do I find this solenoid cap? I do not have a manual or a diagram of the printer.

The plastic printer solenoid cap is probably broken, it is available but a little tricky to install.

Wheelwriter 6 Won't Type

It is probably the print solenoid that has a broken cap. I have seen a few advertisers that sell the repair kit with instructions. It is fairly simple to repair.

When I type nothing appears on the page. Everything was fine one minute and the next nothing. I changed the ribbon, but I still can't get the letters to appear. Thank you for any help you can give...

On my wheelwriter 6, when i type everything goes through the motion but it want type any letter on the paper. I change the ribbon and install fresh batteries?

There is a part on the print hammer solenoid that falls apart over time. It is a small whiteish cap that
just falls apart so the machine sounds and looks like it is working but there is nothing being transfered to the paper. I have ordered this part from Coleman manufacturing.

No user manual for my IBM Wheelwriter 6

You can download the IBM Wheelwriter 6 series II 6784 Operator 's Guide from Lexmark site (look for "IBM Typewriters" in the bottom of the page):
http://images.lexmark.com/publications/pdfs/2007/index/en.html

If all you remember is the # 80, maybe what you have to do is insert the the paper in the machine and then press [PLAY] + the number 80 and, then, each time the playback stops at a stop point, type the variable text to be inserted (check the " Playing back a repetitive letter" section of the manual).
You can also get a print "directory" of all text stored (check the "Advanced Storage" chapter).
Hope this helps.

IBM Wheelwriter 30 series II - prints only half a letter

If it types only the top half yhe platen is probably not all the way in. Make sure the 2 black latches are lined up with the side frames then press down firmly on both sides of the platen.
