Hi Master - I have problem to operate my Blackberry 7290. I buy this PDA in USA under cingular term (sim card i use before in this PDA is from cingular) and when i move to asia (Indonesia), i want to use different sim card (local indonesia sim card) but there is no network and in my blackberry shown invalid simcard. I bring my blackberry to local provider (which i buy the sim card) but they can not solve this problem, still no network and still invalid sim card. I really need help to solve this problem (connect to local network provider and get the local simcard working properly). Thanks a lot Jame Depth
It's happened since your phone still locked for cingular network only. If you want to change your original blackberry sim card with indonesia sim card you must unlock your phone network. To unlock blackberry 7290 network you will be need a blackberry unlock code. This code can be obtained from cingular or purchase at third party sites for save more cost.

This seems to be the multimillion dollar question for Blackberrys and here is how this works.
There is no "magical"code for all BB's
Each Blackberry is item specific based on your IMEI which is located on the inside of your battery compartment.
Your best bet is to go to eBay or similiar and find your blackberry and look for the cheapest unlocking program. AT that point you will be able open your Blackberry.
Unlocking is most probably the solution and 7290s can definitely be unlocked. You just eneter a software code but usually have to purcahse it. The locks are device (IMEI) specific.
You would need to unlock your Blackberry. You can check out sites to unlock devices and I believe BB7290 is one of the devices that can be unlocked. Make sure have IMEI number handy to unlock the device.
Blackberry Technical Support team on the WEB is place to seek an answer. Or any documentation that came with the device From what you say- and I am not an expert with CellPhone devices/Systems- there appears to be no service available in your part of the world. Check out Blackberry
