Use CLR on them to clean them and it will also disinfect them as well.

Calcium deposits can usually be cleaned up with vinegar, or go to a home center and purchase some lime-away (follow the manufacturers directions).

If you can allow parts to soak over night, it will help break the deposits free (depending on concentration, time, agitation, and temperature.). It may require several soakings.

To sanitize, sanitize the using a couple of teaspoons of bleach to a gallon of water. Immerse parts or wipe with a cloth soaked int he solution. Rinse with clean water.

Please see my previous post regarding calcium buildup and using vinegar, lime-away, clr or some such calcium scale cleaner that can be purchased at a home center.

Every 10-14 days, the lower housing should be wiped out with a damp sponge. The disk stacks should be rinsed off and/or brushed off with a brush or sponge. Periodically, the Venta Cleaner can be used for a thorough cleaning. At all times, care should be taken to keep water away from the motor. Please see User Guide for more information.

How do you fill the venta humidifier I don't have

http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/content/pdfs/123738.pdf

Fill Water Tank.

Turn off humidifier and unplug the power cord from A/C outlet. Remove tank from

base. Turn upside down and unscrew filling cap. Fill tank with clean, cool, distilled,

filtered, or tap water. Do not attempt to fill unit through Vapor Nozzle. Water temperature

should NEVER be too hot or too cold. Extreme temperatures can damage the

unit. Tighten filling cap firmly. Return tank to base and let it sit for a few minutes. For

first time use or when replacing the demineralization cartridge filter, please soak the

filter in warm water for several minutes.

How often do i need to change the filter?

From the quick research that I did I'm finding 100 hours. That will vary very significantly depending on the mineral content (hardness) of your water. If you have alot of mineral in your water the filter may have to be changed much more often to maintain good operation of the unit.

I have a Venta VS370 humidifier which works fine immediately after I change the filter but after a few days the vapour stream diminishes significantly and it ceases to be effective: is this a malfunction?

Filters need to be changed regularly depending on environment may have to change more often.

These systems can be very troublesome. It is possible that you are having mineral buildup in your system from the water supply. You can try adding 1/4 cup vinegar to your water to help clean away deposits. See if that helps .

Cleaned my Venta VS207 now it won't work. Only flashes.

My unit was doing the same thing as others here and I was able to fix the issue. I believe the issue is that the sensor for the water level, which is located in a tube connecting the two water reservoirs in the main unit, has something blocking the sensor. Most likely this is bacteria growth or other debris which has built up over time. I used Oxy Clean which has some bubbling action and very hot water to clean both sides for about 30 minutes. When I flushed out the reservoir, it started working again.
If take the base off the unit by removing the 4 screws, you will see the "tube" I'm talking about. Since this has what appears to be sensors in it, I didn't want to remove the tube from the bottom to clean it and instead to the approach above. Hope this helps someone.

Caring For Your Venta-Sonic Humidifier
IMPORTANT!
Always unplug the unit before cleaning!
When to Clean Your Humidifier
Clean your humidifier weekly or more often during heavy use, depending on your
individual water quality. Clean your humidifier before storing and after long periods
of storage.
When cleaning the inside of your unit, keep water away from the air outlet. Exterior
may be wiped with a damp cloth when unit is off and unplugged.
Cleaning the Oscillator and Water Sensor
Turn off the unit and unplug power cord. Remove tank from base and empty
reservoir in base. Use cleaning brush provided in base to clean off mineral deposits
and sediment from oscillator and water sensor. Do not scrape or clean with tools
that have metal parts. Be careful to not damage the surface of the oscillator.
ATTENTION: Damage to the oscillator may cause the unit to not work properly.
The oscillator (ultrasonic transducer) is highly sensitive. Keep this important part
clean and treat gently. Do not touch the oscillator while the unit is operating.
Do not use soap, cleaning agents, detergents, or other chemicals for cleaning the
tank and humidifier.
After cleaning fill water tank (see instructions above) and return tank to base.
Storing the Venta-Sonic
Switch off and unplug power cord from A/C outlet. Empty remaining water from base
and tank. Clean tank and unit (see for instructions above). Make sure all parts are
thoroughly dry—allow at least 24 hours to dry. Leave the filling cap of the tank
loosened. This will keep the cap and gasket from sticking together. Pack Venta-Sonic
in original packaging and store in a cool and dry place.
