Dishwasher I have the ge potscrubber 720. It leaves water on the bottom of the tub after the cycle ends. I have removed the drain hose and the strainer to check for clogs. What else can I do? Is it normal to have water in the bottom of the tub?

GE 720 Potscrubber I started with the water puddling in bottom now it progressed to leaking on the floor. I had a repair guy come to my home yesterday and he says a broken seal and my total cost to replace seal and labor is $165 plus tax.
What is the life expectancy? He did not sound too promising about the future of my dishwasher and said he is certain there will be another repair need shortly something related to the water saturating an area underneath the dishwasher?
He reccomended I call Sears and replace with a Whirlpool product. He claimed he put his kids thru college repairing GE products. My husband wants to repair and I dont because of fear of spending more money!

Dishwasher won't drain at the end of the cycle

Whenever an appliance does operate its pumps/valves heaters correctly for part of a cycle then doesnt at another point, it is a problem with the controller of the sequence in the cycle.. On older devices this can be a rotating knob that slowly runs to end of cycle triggering events as it turns, by tripping blade switches near the rotating item. On these the switch trigger points can be inspected and sometimes repaired. On newer items the cycle is controlled electronically, and you have to replace the whole control unit, which is usually a large expensive part that includes the display and all buttons. Try getting a used control unit from Ebay and swapping it out, or consider replacing the whole appliance.

Sink dishwater intrusion

Hello- Find drain hose from dishwasher under sink. Should have gooseneck ~ in hose run to keep water from getting back into dwshr. Does full sink drained all at once push water into tub? Sometimes stuff not disposalled yet blocks drainage. Older motors can tend to become weak with age, not pumping as much water out of tub as it used to.Anyway- Hope this helps- ED

GE GSD4920Z dishwasher. Problem is that it does not drain completely at the end of the cycle--about an inch of water remains. After checking for clogs, etc, we followed a troubleshooting procedure which...

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Dishwasher not draining properly or not draining at all issues can arise due to different reasons. Usually, these issues are related to kinked hoses, knocked out disposer unit (if connected with the dishwasher drain hose) & clogged drain pump & filter.

Also note that dishwashers do not drain completely after a finished cycle and this is normal. Dishwashers are designed to leave some water in the unit to ensure that the heating element doesn’t overheat. If you suddenly begin to experience a large amount of water being retained in your dishwasher, you have a problem. Some of the most common reasons include that the drain hose isn’t working properly, the drain pump isn’t working correctly, or possibly there is a plumbing problem in your home’s drain lines.

First check whether the drain is not clogged or blocked and the line is not kinked. Check all the hoses for blockages & also clean the air gap. Has the disposer been replaced recently? If so, chances are the knockout is still in place. Simply remove the drain hose from the disposer, and knock out the plug. If the disposer has not been replaced, try removing the drain hose from the disposer and use a wet-dry vacuum (prepared for water, of course) to **** any water (and hopefully anything else) from the drain line. Then reconnect the hose, and test the unit. If you have checked the air gap and the drain hose and can’t locate the problem, then it is an issue with the drain pump of the dishwasher.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Water didn't drain, left in bottom of washer tub

I had similar problem and it ended up being a clog at the point where the drain hose meets the garbage disposal. I had to unhook the hose and clean out the food that had accumulated (horrible smell). You may have to stick a screwdriver into the garbage disposal hole where the hose fits and clean the food out there also. Then put the hose into a bucket and run a few cycles to ensure the hose is free.

Dishwasher drains but leaves behind about 1/2" of standing water

Water standing in the bottom of the tub is normal.
A small amount of clean water around the outlet on the tub bottom at the back of the tub keeps the water seal lubricated.
