My camera won't turn on!

For the past couple of months, my camera has not been turning on. I've tried numerous pairs of new batteries, but they aren't doing anything! I have no idea what could be wrong, and I have taken no steps in trying to solve this problem myself.

  • Anonymous Dec 07, 2007

I could turn my camera on and it would make a beeping sound then go off so i sent it in to be repaired and they said that it was sand, water, and dust damaged but now i see it is just the camera. Everybody here has the same exact problem how funny!!!

Mine wont turn on and I tryed changing the batteries. I have no idea what is wrong with it. I have had it less than a year when it started to not like to turn on and now I cannot get it to turn on.

  • Anonymous Dec 21, 2007

I have the same problem, my camera eats batteries, I can use it for 5 minutes and then have to replace the batteries, or it will flash on and then off again. The lense has also occasionally stuck open.

I used to have a problem with my camera. I agree with the other suggested solution - switch to lithium batteries. My camera has had no problems since then and the batteries last for a pretty long time. I used Energizer e2 Lithium batteries and they work great!

Here in my side...

I do suggest that you have to set the correct battery settings in the camera...

Advised to set the correct battery type.
- Press on MENU button
- Press on the right button until you see SETUP 2
- Scroll down until you see BATTERY TYPE
- Select ALKALINE if you're using NON-RECHARGEABLE
- Select Ni-MH if you're using RECHARGEABLE
- Press on OK/MENU button for changes to be saved

For other camera you just have to go to setup... and look for battery type...

Yes yes yes i think i have solved the problem with s1065 (if your camera lens is stuck on open and makes a bleeping noise-then read on ) its not the battery's it seams the lens motor is a bit temperamental ...... grip lens as if you were opening a jar ,with the thumb and index finger gentle twist left and right with little pressure thus should solve you problems ......IT DID ON MY S1065 STEVE FROM MONTROSE SCOTLAND

Check the batteries...if they're alkaline, switch to lithium, that's what worked for me just a couple of days ago, I was having the exact same problem OR talk to your camera retailer, either way works.

Samsung Technical Support team. If a year or less or perhaps a little over old There may be a manufacture issue with this. If not and they are unable to help replace the camera there is no repair option that is economic

I haven't turned the camera on for a couple of years. I've tried charging the battery, but I can't get it to power up. Do I need to replace battery or is it something else?

If the rechargeable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

Sony Cyber Shot, camera wont turn on

Try cleaning the connectors inside the battery compartment, top and bottom and then replace the rechargable batteries with disposable alkaline batteries and try again. If this works then the problem may be the rechargable battery pack.

Camera won't turn on.

Mine had the same problem.  I consulted http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/ and it said to use rechargeable batteries only.  The entry claimed that alkaline batteries, even if they're brand new, don't have sufficient power for more than a few pictures and may not even be powerful enough to turn the camera on.  I was dubious, but I tried putting in a pair of fully charged rechargeables and, by Gum, the camera was suddenly working again.  So before junking the camera, try investing 20 bucks in a battery charger and a pair of AA rechargeables and see if that fixes it.

Whats wrong

What kind of batteries are you using? I had this problem with a Samsung camera when using alkalines. It behaved much better with rechargeables or oxyride batteries.
