Sanyo PLV-Z3 Multimedia Projector problem

Problem

Red lines or bands of red color (they can occur in green and blue as well) started showing up on my Sanyo Projector.

I have a PLV-Z3 and the left half of the screen has a blue tint especially on lighter colors....I have tried cleaning the dust from the panels by using the bulb serenge but that did not work. I believe that the unit overheated at some point due to lack of cleaning the filter in a timely manner (doh!!). Is this also related to 3 filters.

This could be due to one of the three filters that are easy to change - download the free pdf service manual - not the user manual - it is very descriptive and the filter is about $120 from Sanyo.

Two vertical blue bands on right side of screen, get worse as movie progresses, and black areas look really blue. Air cleaned entire projector per manual instructions. Also rotated both blue IN and blue...

with the projector off, remove the cover and unplug the blue lcd panel ribbon cable from the main board and reinsert it. you have to unlock the cable first (either the clip goes up or out, but do not force). if that does not solve the problem, you have a faulty lcd panel.

OVAL SPOT IN PICTURE

LCD 101, your blue device is dying in the projector. Very common problem. The blue device cant handle the heat and allowing the other colors to come thru. I suggest replacing with a dlp brand product.

Blue stain on the image projected by my PLV-Z3

I had the exact same problem with my z3, Turnes out it was the blue filter.
I used the full service manual, and managed to fix mine using the diagrams, and troubleshooting section.

You can get the full service manual here.

PLV-Z1 no longer powering up - Ready light is green and the Lamp light is red

I have a Sanyo XU35. Mine was starting up and showed a picture for about 15 - 30 seconds then shutting down. My lamp warning light was not coming on. When I put it in for repairs it turned out to be the lamp that needed replacing. The technician said it is not uncomman for the lamp to be gone and the lamp warning light not to come on. I got my lamp on e-bay from ping_ngo for a great price.
