SONY HVR-Z1E Playback problem

I recently recorded approx 1 hour of footage on my SONY HVR-Z1E Camcorder, and when I tried to play back the footage all I can see is the timecode and a blue screen. But when I press the play button and then press the fast forward button I can see the footage, I can only see the footage in the fast forward mode. The tape I used was a SONY Mini DV tape and was brand new tape, and I've since tried to record on the same tape with success.

SOURCE: Mode for playback of older 8mm tapes using Sony DCR-TRV730 ?

In 1990s Sony camcorder records movie in analog format so playing in digital camcorder like DCR-TRV730 doesn't mean it will be converted in digital format and you can not import file in PC for editing purpose. You will get analog signal while playing back old cassettes.

Regarding SP, LP speed, its decided at time of recording. Camera sens SP or LP automatically in playback and set itself accordingly.

If you want to convert old cassettes into digital format, connect our camcorder to DVD recorder and burn DVD which is digital format, copy DVD files in to PC and do desired editing.

Images not recording

I have a sony 14E and suddenly it stopped playing and recording. With vertical lines on the screen I knew to clean the heads. No effect on the recording/playing malfunction.

However I persevered and it seems to have worked in it is now recording and playing back. The steps I suggest, with PERSEVERANCE, are :
1. Clean the heads (I did it 3 times in all, with about 1 hour between each session);
2. Leave the camera open (tape section) for about 2 hours and put the camera (with or without tape) in a warm place. (I also had condensation messages).
3. Once it is warm put in a recorded tape and attempt to view it. At first I had "dirty" vertical lines for a few seconds but it cleared and played normally.
4. If Step 3 still does not work repeat 1 and 2. As I said PERSEVERE.
If Step 3 works then try to record. It should work hopefully. If not, repeat 1 and 2 (shortening the "Warm Up" time).
Good luck. I hope mine continues to work OK now. It is to do with dirty heads and coldness I think.

VX2100 record settings for slow motion playback when editing

you can't ! you have to slow you footage afterwards.
Anyway, try to record with a slow speed shutter (1/30th of a second or less) to fluidify your images but if you want to slow down your footage, it's probably because the scene is "fast" and this doesn't could help you anyway !!!

Playing DV footage that was recorded on a different camera

Canon camcorders have a non-standard head position. Borrow a panasonic or samsung camcorder (those two are compatible) and backup your casettes on dvds. If you want them to be on minidv readable on canon camcorder, connect it afterwards and send video to minidv through your camcorder. It will then be alligned the way that suites your gear.

Either that or go to the professional service that does conversion from minidv tapes. That usually costs around 15$ per hour, so if you have 10 or more hours of video, the less expensive way is buying an entry model of panasonic camcorder.

Sony dcr-hc35e

first try a cleaning tape and this will not solve the problem have a service dealer check the unit.ru the cleaning tape once and try to playback a good old recording, if it does not work try to run the tape twice before testing . do not run the tape too many times as you may damage the video heads.one cleaning session should not be longer than 10-15 seconds. most of the new cams are stopping the cleaning tape playback after 10-15 secs.
