Have an Hitachi 42 PMA400e Plasma Tv.

My parents have a Hitachi 42 PMA400e Plasma TV. They want to be able to allow sound to come out of the TV, and simultaneously have sound coming out via headphones. There doesn't seem to be a headphone jack anywhere that I can see. But I am guessing there must be some way to get sound out other than via the speakers. If I can plug in headphones I am guessing it would likely mute the TV. The reason I need all this is because my parents watch TV together, but my elderly father is hearing impaired. He bought some wireless headphones, but they appear to need a unit to be plugged in to a headphone jack. My father wants to listen to the TV via the headphones (which he can adjust to loud), while my mother listens via the normal TV speakers. Any ideas?

SOURCE: Hitachi L26H01U headphone socket doesnt work

User problem!! The main TV volume and the headphone volume work independently so you can have the TV volume set at zero and use the headphone volume. However I suggest getting a pair of headphones with it's own volume control.

I have a 42 inch Hitachi plasma tv that is making a very loud static noice coming from the internal speakers. It stays at a contstant very loud volume unless I completly mute the tv or turn the volum

Based on what you have tried if a buzz or loud static via the speakers you have something wrong in the audio output circuit of the set--problem here is that circuit may be part of the Main board that processes all signal---a look inside---following the speaker leads back would lead you to that board.

A simple thing to do to narrow it a little (you may have done this) is with sound all the way off put your ear to the internal speaker--hear anything at all like a deep hum?

Depending on age of set and cost of the board likely bad it may or may not be a do it yourself repair.

I have an Hitachi 42 PMA400e Plasma Tv. The problem is that when I switch the unit on it gives me a picture for a brief second before going blank. This is happening on both the Video 1 & 2 channels....

I also have this television, and it baffled me too. Apparently the 42PMA400E isn't so much a television, it's more of just a "display unit". It hasn't got any built-in channels (can't even connect an aerial into it) and hasn't got any speakers either. To use as a television, you need to connect a reciever (I use a DVD player, as I only use it for the Xbox) to it to display the video, and get some surround sound speakers to connect to the DVD player.

Hi can u hep? i connect my hdtv connector from my x box to a hitachi plasma 42 " tv which also acts as the pc port, but get no sound?

make sure that the connection you are using is providing audio to the tv. If it is VGA, or DVI, those cables do not carry audio, only video.

Hi, the ysus board on the left side looking from the rear of the plasma has blownup, this is a very common problem with 42PD380TA, if the unit is under warranty you are lucky otherwise hitachi charge alot of mooney for service kit.

I have seen 7 hitachi plasmas in 3 months all with the same fault.
