I purchased Mits WD-60735 on 12/26/2008. After about two weeks, the TV suddently shut off by itself and the lamp light came on and was red. According to the manual, I need a new lamp. Had a tech come out today who was confident that replacing the bulb would fix it. After 10 minutes, the set shut off again and the lamp light came up red. Luckily, the tech saw the whole thing. He stated that the fans appeared to all be working. His theory is that something in the power supply is triggering the TV to shut off. If that is the case, why does the lamp light come on red? In any event, they are coming tomorrow to pick up the set and take it to the shop for repair. According to the back of the TV, the set was assembled in December 2008. I have read all the information regarding the many problems with the previous Mits tvs. There seems to be very little about the WD-60735. I have seen some data about the color wheel on the WD-60735. Has anyone seen this before? Is anyone having the same problem I am? If so, did you get your set fixed? If so, how?

Hi Sally Jo, Unit powers on and works properly for a while then shuts off with a red lamp LED (lamp error). Suspect bad lamp part # 915P020010 2. Lamp enable line at J14 pin 6 does not switch to 5 volts after turn on, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. Suspect the Light Engine part # 939P977010 3. At power on the lamp turns on and off three times and then the unit shuts down with a red lamp LED (lamp error). Replace the Light Engine part # 939P977010 4. Check for 12-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 4 on the Engine Driver PCB, if missing check for an open F9A09 on the Power PCB, if it is open replace F9A09 part # 283P127060 and the Light Engine part # 939P977010 5. Lamp enable line at connector J14 pin 6 on the Engine Driver PCB switches to 5 volts after turn on but does not go back to 0-volts (low) after 5 seconds, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. Suspect the Light Engine part # 939P977010 6. Check for 5-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 1 and 2 on the Engine Driver PCB if missing replace the Power PCB part # 934C148001. Hope this helps!

continuous blinking green light indicates that the capacitors have failed on the DM pwb. You need the V26 DLP DM repair kit which is available at the following link under their repair category.

Mitsubishi has problems with the thermal sensor going bad. They extended the warranty for several sets. The sensor is right by the lamp. Call mitsubishi and insist they do something for you. If you keep playing your set, the bulb could also be at risk. I would think your set is covered being a 62" set. Good-luck and be sure to act ASAP.

You need to replace the "light engine". This is very very difficult. You need to take it to a repair shop. But this will be very expensive. Around $1,000.00

You have to take the TV apart. Pull the electrical chassis out and look for bad electrolytic caps on the boards. The red LED probably means the 2 - 3300UF caps on the power supply board are bad. You can tell if they are bad by the fact that their tops are puffed up and they may or may not be leaking brown fluid. Compare them against the other caps on the boards and you will see how they have flat tops.
BUT before you take the TV apart you can check the error codes by pushing "menu" and "Device" at the same time and holding for about 10 seconds. The status light will blink two numbers. ex. one flash pause two flashes is 12 Error Code Probable Cause
12 No error detected
22 Recovery from momentary Reset
32 Lamp Cover open
33 Air Filter Cover open
34 Lamp abnormality
35 Chassis Fan failure
36 Exhaust (Back Cover) or Lamp Ballast Fan failure
37 Engine (DMD or Lamp) Fan failure
38 Excess Lamp Temperature
39 Excess DMD Temperature
41 Short Detected
44 DVI Cable (between Chassis and Engine) disconnected

You can buy replacement caps from Mouser electronics online. There are plenty of solutions detailing how to do this already posted.

Once I turn the set back on, I hear the audio - but, no picture. After a couple of minutes, the set turns off by itself.
