Cofeemaker coffeemaker just died it made half a pot then just stipped now it wont get hot all the lights are on but hotplate wont get warm at all and it wont brew

Run a half a pot of vinegar through it then 2 or 3 pots of water. It's from lime and calcium deposits.

The bulb in the switch button will be faulty, it is not available separately from the switch and the switch is obsolete with no alternative part number supplied.

Age? Warranty? Highly likely the electrical connections and controls internal are bad. Probably time to replace with a lightly used replacement. It may be less than repair.

You didn't indicate a specific model. So, I'm going to assume yours is relatively the same as my JWX27.

It should take between 45 minutes and an hour to complete. Don't be concerned about the 30-minute long pause during the cycle when nothing happens. This is intentional and part of the cycle.

After the cleaning cycle has completed, get rid of the vinegar. Rinse out the strainer basket and the coffee pot. Run a full pot of clean water thru a regular brew cycle (with the pot and basket in place, of course). Then, dump the water, rinse the pot and basket again, and run another full pot of clean water thru a regular brew cycle. Dump that water too. And, you're done!

This is the correct operation for this type of coffeemaker. It uses the thermal carafe to keep the coffee warm after brewing, and doesn't use power to operate a warming plate

I recommend slowly pouring in about a half a pot of cold water without coffee in the filter basket 5 or so minutes before you brew in the morning. There are 2 good reasons to do this-
1. Overnight you are having some evaporation due to the fact that your Bunn brewer has a reservoir that keeps a couple of pots worth of water at brewing temperature... a better temp than most "home" model brewers. This will top off the reservoir and you will not "short pot" except for the amount that the grounds themselves hold back.
2. Also overnight, due to the fact that the water is kept hot, the oxygen can dissipate from the water in the tank. Topping off with fresh water will mean a fresher first pot.
The Bunn brewers have a low wattage/keep warm heater so the actual heating element isn't doing all of the work over those long periods... it only kicks on when the temperature in the reservoir drops considerably (like after brewing). Be sure to let the brewer heat back up before brewing (you will hear it stop heating)
