SOURCE: fridge problem

There is a drain, usually at the bottom of the refrigerator compartment. Pull out the bottom two drawers and see if there is a drain. It is usually in the very back of the inside compartment. Make sure it is not clogged. Usually, this is the problem.

SOURCE: My FRT8B5EW4 has water building up in the crisper

This is a common problem when the drain for the condensate from defrost tries to get to the pan below your refrigerator. Almost every blockage may be a little different. The trick is to find where it begins and eliminate that problem first and then cleaning the condensate drain line out with a wet and dry vacuum cleaner. Unplug the power to the Fridge, take the items out of the freezer. There is a bottom tray that's inside the freezer that has 2 or 4 screws, remove the screws that holds the floor to the freezer and lift it out. You will probably see a sheet of ice on the bottom of the freezer. You may have to take off the back cover which is inside the freezer, it covers the evaporator. Then you will want to defrost the ice, do not use a heat gun it will melt the inside of the freezer. Best way to thaw it is leave the power off and melt it with hot water (not boiling). Either wet vac out the water as it melts or use a hand towel to mop it up. Sometimes a turkey baster will work to squeegee it out. There is a drain hole in the back that you will see as the ice begins to melt. That needs to be clear and the only way to clear it is to cover it with hot water. You will know that it clears and working when you see the water drain out thru the drain hole in the back of the inside of the freezer. By the way the drain drains thru a pipe thru a tray that's on top of your compressor. That's what heats it and makes it evaporate. Be advised that as you see that it is clearing, you can stop dumping water down there as some may get on the floor as the pan may overflow and dump water on the floor. If that happens, just mop up the water from the floor. Now put it back together again and plug it back in and you should have no further problems.

SOURCE: Water collecting under crisper drawers.

Your refrigerator has a drain that leads to the exterior drain pan beneath the refrigerator. Occasionally this drain can become clogged resulting in standing water inside your refrigerator. A similar drain exists in the freezer, which when clogged results in ice build up on the floor of the freezer.

The drain is located either on the floor of the refrigerator, beneath the vegetable crisper, or in the wall behind a drain funnel.

Clear the drain by forcing a solution of water and bleach or water and baking soda into it with a basting syringe. If the solution will not flow through, slide a length of ¼ inch flexible tubing into the drain tube to push the clog through to the drain pan. Remove the tubing after clearing the clog.

NOTE-(This may be a leveling issue as well)

It is important for the refrigerator to be level. If it is not level, doors may not open or close properly and may not seal tightly. Also, drainage from the defrost cycle might be impaired as might the ice making cycle. The appliance was engineered based on it being installed in a level position. While there may be some tolerance for out-of-level installation, the appliance will operate at its best when properly leveled.

Place a level on top of the refrigerator near the front. Do not put it on the door because the door may not be aligned with the refrigerator case. Check that the refrigerator is level from side to side. Next turn the level to check that it is level from front to back.

If it is not level, adjust one or more of the adjustable leveling feet until it is level. The feet are bolts that can be turned to raise or lower the refrigerator. If they cannot be adjusted with your fingers, use a crescent wrench or pliers.

If you have an ice-maker, it should also be checked for level after first leveling the refrigerator. An ice maker that is out of level will spill water into the ice bin or into the freezer. It can be repositioned by loosening the mounting screws, adjusting it for level and then re tightening the screws.

Water through door stopped working. Now water is puddling under crisper drawers, sometimes freezing. Also seems to be leaking underneath left front side.

It sounds as though the hole allowing water generated by the auto defrost to drain away is blocked.

I suggest locating the hole and using something like flexible curtain wire to rod it through, preferably from underneath.
The water collects in a tray mounted on the motor where the heat generated by the motor will evaporate it.

Water build up

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that you are getting puddles of water in the back of one of the bottom shelf and in one of the vegetable drawers in your Frigidaire refrigerator. I suggest putting the crisper drawer control on the Hi humidity setting. This should allow more moisture to escape out of the drawer and not cause as much puddling. Also, check your water filter and make sure it is not leaking, as well as any moisture from the ice maker. If further troubleshooting is needed, I ask that you please leave the model number of your washer. Typically, you can find this number inside your refrigerator on the liner walls. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Puddles on top shelf and under crisper drawers

This is not a major repair and also a very common problem. You will need to turn unit off and remove everything from inside the freezer. After this remove the back panel of the freezer and you will see ice built up at the bottom of the coils. You will have to remove all this ice and clear the defrost drain trough and tube. After the ice is removed you will see the defrost drain located about midways. Use a hair dryer to melt this then take a cup of very very very hot water and pour a little in the tube. Let stand for 5 minutes then dry it up real good and repeat. Do this till the drain clears and water flows freely. Then reassemble and you are good to go.

Water in wood's fridge

If you have the wire metal shelf model, there is a wrap around cooling plate (back and two sides) at the top of the inside. The frost that forms on this while it is running melts off after the compressor stops and the water runs down, into the drip channel, and out the drain hole at the center of the channel on the back wall. Clean out that hole so the water will flow out instead of down the walls to the bottom of your refrig.
If you have the glass shelf model, you have to remove the metal cover at the bottom back of the refrig and clean out the defrost drain hole located there.

Water build up under crisper bins in bottom of fridge. New seal has been applied, but still no luck. Kelvinator 400 top freezer

What happens is the drain will get stopped up and the defrost water will cascade down the back wall and puddle up under the drawers. You must access the evaporator area and open that drain.
