Turn the key get a loud clicking noise no start

Turn the key and all I get is a loud clicking noise and the truck does not start. The head lights work fine and all the lights on the dash seem fine even the open door and key in the ignition tones are as load as normal. If it is the starter where is it located or is there a free mech manual on line that will show me how to remove and replace it. Im a aircraft mechanic all I need is the manual.

No have not checked the battery yet when my wife gets home I will try to start it with her battery but every thing seems normal when I put the key in the ignition and turn the key over except the truck doesnt start. Like normally when its a dead battery it kinda chugs then dies this doesnt die at all just clicks really loud and the truck doesnt start.

Thanks to josh05magnum I took the battery out of the wifes car and put it into the Expedition to test the battery and the truck started right up. Cost me $70.00 bucks for a new battery at Wally World. Your help is greatly appreciated and you saved me a bunch of money.

    Thanks Again

I know with a dying/bad battery, the starter can not get enough power to turn over the engine, and it will click also, yet the headlights and other items work fine. But if it's not the battery, it most likely is the starter.

Have you checked the battery for proper volt/amp and connectivity?

Motor does not seem to work. sensor light does not come on. you hear a noise indicating the batteries are working

If you are hearing a loud "Clicking" noise when you turn the key it usually means the battery has some power but not enough cranking amps to start the car. Get a battery charger on it or take it somewhere and have the battery tested.

My 1990 buick Lesabre started making a loud clicking/ rattling noise yesterday and now it will not start. Then i turn the key it sounds like it wants to start but just doesnt turn over.

Sounds like the alternator. You might want to try seeing if the lights and radio have power. If not it is probably the alternator.

WhaT DOES IT MEANS

this happens because most time most people forget to tighten the Gas cap after fueling the vehicle. It is also mentioned in side the Gas cap compartment.
pls turn the Gas cap atleast three time with the clicking noise loud enough to turn head of the guy fueling by next pump.

Now, once u get these lights on what to do? well it should disappear next morning when u r starting it to get back to work. if now, find ur self a driveway or a road which is quite a bit of uphill or downhill and park the car there, turn the engine off, keys out and wait for 5 minutes. get back in and enjoy the clear dash.

1999 Blazer is not starting, very loud clicking noise

you need a new and /or known to be fully charged battery to start with also make sure your alternator is charging very well (not just barely poking along ) also make sure that the auto light sensor is not coverd with dust or anyhting else ( keep crud and **** away from the dash area above the audio center this can cause the system to turn on even with the key off.
