Since your phone is locked to Vodafone UK other networks won't work in your phone. In order to use any GSM sim you have to unlock your phone. To unlock your phone get the subsidy code from Unlock-Zone.com

1 - Switch ON your Motorola V3 with a NOT ACCEPTED SIM Card,

V551 can be unlocked online(cost 10 - 15$), or calling your network provider (free but very slow 1 - 3 weeks).
