Ariens SnoThro w/5hp Tecumseh has no fire

I was given an Ariens Sno Thro with a Tecumseh 5 hp motor model OHH50 engine family 3TPXS.195 IBA. The previous owner said it did run but now there is no POP. I don't have equipment to check anything electrical. If I you could give me some tips to begin with that I can try before taking it to an expensive repair shop, I would certainly appreciate the help.

Thank you for your help,

Conrad

First thing is to empty the old gas out of the gas tank completely... (Pull off the fuel line from the tank) next look under heater box where the carburetor is there is a bowl with a brass bolt, (1/2") remove it and let the rest of the fuel drain out... Next look at the brass bolt (carb jet) and clean off any debris, take a safety pin and clean out the 2 holes on top and sides... Reassemble bolt to snug... Re connect fuel line and add new fuel (fresh!!!!!!)

Check the fuel. Pour some fuel into a clear jar and let it set. See if it seperates due to water in the fuel. Very common problem.

Why sno thro continues to run after ice block is removed

Because that is how it's designed. It's designed to run again, after you remove ice block.

Auger does not engage on Ariens Model 924121 sno- Thro

first check shear pins in the auger ( try to turn big auger by hand, engine off)
then if they are good then try to turn impeller by hand, engine off
youll need to turn it a few times before the larger ones turn, but thats what you want
if they dont turn then you have sheared the gear box gears
be sure belts are good tooo

Where is the spark plug located on an Ariens Sno-Thro compact?

I am assuming this is a 22 or 24 inch model. The engine is an overhead valve design and the spark plug is buried on the left side of the motor (looking at it from the handles) You should be able to see a large black wire going into the engine. Depending on the engine make it may have a rubber cover or just plug wire covering the plug.
On this page are pictures showing the location of the spark plugs on Briggs & Stratton engines.

The OHV horizontal shaft engines are about half-way down the page.

Have a tecumseh ohh50 4 cycler engine on a garden

Check for condensation in the tank. Fill with FRESH gas, then if no luck, proceed ...

Main jet partially blocked. Undo bowl nut. Some models have the jet in the side of the nut - check and clean. If not, the jet is in the emusion tube of the carb - accessible throught the bowl nut orifice. Clean out & test.
