Mitsubishi wd series 73" dlp. Works fine but after several hours of viewing screen scrambles then goes blue and sound goes off. I can switch to another input and watch amazon just fine. If I wait half an hour I can go back to regular cable for several more hours

    Already tried that. It is a 2005 73". Not sure why this says otherwise. Last night it didn't do it at all. But most evening everything is fine then for a few seconds it looks like it has a horizontal hold problem as from the old, old tv's , then it goes bluie. Turn it off for 30 minutes and all is better. When it goes blue I can also switch to the input for the Roku box and watch Net Flix just fine. As oppossed to turning it off i can watch NetFlix for a while then go back to cable and it is fine.

A couple of suggestions, if only on cable and using a box disconnect the set and box from power and after several minutes repower and see if a reboot helps.

The two models listed here both should also have a soft reset done with the original remote and the set on---Menu,1,2,3, enter.

SOURCE: TV is 73" DLP Mitsubishi.

Hello
There are tow reaons for this fault. The first one is with the colour whell as you mentioned here. The second and most importan one is with its bulb itsef. Colour wheel won't cost too much. Just replace it first and see whether it helps you. If not, bulb may have to be replaced.OL

Mitsubishi 73" DLP powers on, through welcome

If you are getting at turn on source and back ground is all blue the set will shut down rather quickly;

I have a suggestion, if it works fine, and if not it will not hurt anything.

with original Mitsubishi remote turn set on and then Menu, 1,2,3, enter.

This is the soft reset that most of these sets have (cannot be sure since Model number above is correct?)

The reset button on the front (if it has it) just shuts the set down and reboots the DM unit inside.

Most of these sets when it is pressed the green light will blink for about 70 seconds and go out; that is the DM unit rebooting and the soft restart is something else.

Let me know what you find before you rate this information.

I have the tv in standard mode, but I am unable to

I bet you are using a cable box or satelite receiver. If so check for aspect buttons on the remote that control these devices. I know comcast says "HD Zooom".
