I've had my Toshiba for 5 years & have had no issues until this week. We heard a pop & the TV turned off. When we turned it back on, the color was completely off -- very green & lacking any red. Adjusting the tint & color has not resolved the problem, which makes me think that our red "tube" (for lack of a better word) went out. Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone know if there is a replacement part I can purchase & install or is taking the TV to a pro. the only way to remedy this problem?
Toshibas are notorious for developing shorts in the inernal guns of the picture tube. In your case the green gun is shorted to G1. The noise you heard was an internal arc between the elements. It is unfortunate however, the repair of this problem usually requires the picture tube to be replaced. Sometimes a savvy technician with sencore picture tube rejuvenator can remove the short. This however usually does not last. Scrivitron
Sorry , your best solution is to invest in either a HD PLASMA or LCD. The future is here. Surf the web at the big-box stores and compare prices. Make sure you purchase the extened warranty. You may purchase such warranties from Square Trade .com at a much cheaper price than directy from the store. (incidently my choice is the LCD average life is 40-60,000 hours. Scrivitron

Thanks for the feedback. So, next question... is it worth replacing the picture tube (is there a ballpark price for this repair?) or should I start new TV shopping?
I have toshiba "tv32d90" about 14 years old. When I turn it on the sceen becomes all red for 1 or 2 secs, and then the tv shuts off. I can turn it back on, but it does the same thing again.
